New softball thread

So, in the event that the field is unplayable, will they postpone the game (to another day?), try to make the game at Stillwater a double-header and forgo the home game, or outright cancel the game(s)?

Since regional assignments and seedings will be determined in the next day or two, would the cancellation of today's game (possibly tomorrow's, too) have any adverse effect on our girls?

Looks like it's going to be a doubleheader in Stoolwater.

The doubleheader in Stillwater is scheduled to start at noon. With the rain outlook, there is no assurance that they will be able to play either of them tomorrow.

Texas scored three in the bottom of the sixth to eliminate Baylor, 5-3. OU wins the Big Twelve.

When and on what channel will the selection of regionals (and who hosts), take place?

EDIT: Never mind. Found the answer on SoonerSports.com:

Final Regular Season Weekend Rained Out
May 10, 2015

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Due to field conditions at Cowgirl Stadium, Sunday's doubleheader in Stillwater between No. 5/4 Oklahoma and Oklahoma State has been cancelled.

As a result, the Sooners finish the regular season with a 45-7 record overall and an unprecedented fourth straight Big 12 title thanks to a 14-2 record in conference play.

Oklahoma now awaits its postseason fate Sunday night with the NCAA Division I Selection Show, which will air on ESPNU at 9 p.m. CT.

NCAA Regionals will take place May 15-17 at sites to be determined.

The Big 12 is just killing OU. The conference is just harming selections in almost every manner. The SEC gets Alabama, Florida, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee in the Top 8 seeds. Our conference is so bad that we can't get a good RPI. The WCWS seeding makes it look like it will be a second SEC tourney. Baseball will be the same thing.

We are seeded #11 overall, which means that if the seeds hold (we win our regional, Alabama wins their regional) we will have to go to Tuscaloosa to play in the Super Regional.

Kind of a bummer, not sure why we earned so low a seed???

The big 12 is an absolute joke in softball. Iowa state, Texas tech, and OSU are three of the worst teams in the country. It really brings down the rest of the conference.

Don't forget that KSU, TCU, and WVU don't play softball.

Actually, the decline of the bottom feeders, as well as the fact that there are only seven teams left that play softball does kill the aura of the Big Twelve.

The Big 12 had 4 of 7 teams playing softball make the tourney. The B1G had 4 of 14 teams make the tourney. Iowa, who we run-ruled 2 of 3 games, made the semi-finals of the B1G tourney. Michigan took no hit for playing in that horrible conference.

S.C.R.E.W.E.D.!

It was obvious that the committee did not trust either of the polls. For OU to drop 6/7 spots is evidence of that. The committee does what it whats which is why they didn't stop the game in that horrible downpour against Alabama in the championship. The committee controls everything. There is no way this should have happened but you are at the mercy of the committee and the Big 12 wasn't a strong conference this year. The SEC got 11 teams in the tournament. OU has had this happened before and will use this as motivation. Having to go to Alabama will be like having to go to Arizona a few years ago. Would love nothing better than to eliminate Alabama on their own field. But gotta win the regional first.

In softball rpi is everything. In previous seasons OU's rpi has been up there, this season it was only 13th and the seeding showed accordingly. Dont understand what the big deal is, if you want a higher go out and beat more of those big games you scheduled.
