New softball thread

I stayed positive through five hitless Sooner at-bats, and sure enough they came through for me, just as I thought they would.

Three outs away from an elimination game for Bama, and the Sooners bat last in the next game.

Lots of drama in the bottom of the 7th, but statistically, OU now has better than an 84% chance of going to OKC...

Good job, ladies!

SOONERS WIN! Beautiful change-up that whiffed Bama batter on a 3-2 count, bases loaded!!!

...Drama, anyone?

Page is definitely a gamer. I'm liking our chances of closing out tomorrow now. ALL the pressure is on the Tide.

I think Paige took a lead over Osario in the Freshman of the Year balloting.

We have problems with the rise. We just can't lay off of it. When we finally quit swinging at it, we got some solid wood on the ball for the first time. In addition to winning, Paige got the winning rbi on a sacrifice fly. Self---was her hit harder than Lauren's? It was powered to the top of the foul pole.

We faced the pitcher that was expected to give us the most trouble. She did for five innings.

Parker showed tremendous mental toughness after losing her control and loading the bases. She just reached down deep and reestablished her control.

Gotta admit, it was pretty tense in the bottom of the 7th.

Best thing that happened when Georgia and Shelby came up behind Paige after the bases were loaded after the walk - Paige said "I got this!" Now that is one tough freshman.

One other thing - the upper class women came through today. Callie Parsons (Senior) single then Lauren (Senior) Home Run then Shelby (Senior) walk then Erin (Junior) bunt single then Georgia (Senior) Sac Bunt then Paige (Frosh) SAC Fly RBI then Kady (Junior) Home Run !!!!

It was a freshman that pitched us to a win, and her sacrifice fly provided the winning run. Other than that, it was a junior/senior show.

To give Bama credit, they made things interesting in the bottom of the 7th. Their leadoff hitter executed an absolutely perfect bunt single. Not easy to do against our defense, the bunt was perfectly placed. Then Paige got a little case of the nerves, but reached down deep for the composure to retire their big hitter. I am continually amazed at how composed and mentally tough Paige is - especially so for a pure freshman!

I wonder who Bama starts in the circle today - - Osorio or Littlejohn?

I am betting we see Osorio again, although Littlejohn has an outstanding record, as well.

5 LSU just beat 12 Arizona 8-0 in five. It was just the 3rd time the Wildcats had been run-ruled in 210 NCAA tournament games.

It's very unlikely that we'll ever see LSU in the tourney this year, since they are on the other side of the bracket.

Already in: 3 Michigan, 4 Auburn, 8 Tennessee.

2 Oregon is about to terminate NC State, leading 5-2 in the bottom of the 6th. 11 OU is the next team with a chance to advance.

Besides LSU-Arizona, 1 Florida beat Kentucky 7-0 and 10 Missouri plays 7 UCLA later. Those 6 teams finish up tomorrow.

Interesting Parsons starting over N. Pendley. Guessing because they need here bat?

2 Oregon just beat NC State 9-3 to join 3 Michigan, 4 Auburn and 8 Tennessee in the WCWS.

Paige got the first 2 out in the top of the 3rd, then walked a batter on 4 pitches and allowed a 2-run homer on a full count.

Sooner bats have done zilch through 2 innings. Now up in the 3rd...
