New softball thread

That home plate ump has been giving some pretty nice calls to the Tide, IMO. Been giving Osorio the benefit of the doubt... That called 3rd strike on Parsons sucked.

Osorio for Bama gave up 4 hits and 2 walks leading to 5 runs in the 6th inning yesterday. In her other 9 innings combined she's been perfect.

Bama 2 OU 0 after 3.

So, if Bama wins this game, do we see Pendley or Stevens in the third game? Or does Paige start again?

We need to win this second game. Winning third game will be very tough.

Wow, Lauren whiffs on a rise ball... Damn, wish she could've laid off that. Left the bases loaded...:facepalm

Bama' 4-9 hitters are a combined 2-31 in this series.

This is painful. Still, we have a shot at this game. Do not want to go to a third game.

Two terrific freshman pitchers. Be fun watching these two ladies thru the years. OU needs another strong pitcher besides Parker. If Osorio pitches game three for Bama they have the advantage.

The announcers were speculating if the series goes to three games that Osorio would indeed likely go again in the nightcap.

Hopefully we can get something going in the bottom of the 7th.

Welp, we now have to beat them in the third game... Can Osorio maintain her effectiveness against the Sooners? Can Paige hold up and continue her great pitching?

I have to say that Osorio is one helluva pitcher...

Seems like I read somewhere that the third game, if necessary, would shift to ESPN2 instead of ESPN. Did I get that right? Same two teams on ESPN2 at 7PM?

To answer my own question, the above is true. Half an hour later on ESPN2.

We forgot what we learned last night. We began OK. Early, we hit the ball well, just at people. Later, we began to overswing. The fact that we keep swinging at that riseball, after we learned not to, is infuriating. She jerked Arnold because she swung at it badly, only to have Nicole swing at it.

Didn't both pitchers pitch two-hitters? I think so. The one hit---the home run, was it.

The key pitch of the game was that third pitch to Lauren with the bases loaded. That was called a strike only twice all night, both late in the game. That was probably both high and inside. If that pitch is a ball, it gives Lauren a 3-0 count. Osorio has to give in or walk in a run. Since she had lost a bit of control in that inning, I like Shelby's chances of drawing at least a walk if Lauren walks. That one call by that umpire may have meant the game. I thought he did have a bit wider strike zone for Osorio, especially outside to left-handers. He called that high inside pitch a strike on Lauren and Georgia. I will be glad to change umpires after the game.

ESPN2 is where it will be.

We have another National Top 15 pitcher coming in next year - Brittany Finney and I have heard Jaydyn Chestnut from Mustang is really good.

You'll remember early in the game I was complaining that the ump was calling a lot of strikes that benefited Osorio. I agree, will be glad to see this ump depart.

No matter what, it will be a huge hole in the lineup to replace Lauren and Shelby. We will miss them, BIG TIME.

Ump didn't help us but we need to get the bat off the shoulders. Taking to many pitches.
