Congrats @LChamberlain44 on being the @profastpitch #NPFDraft #1 pick! ENJOY the rest of your @NCAAsoftball career! Shine on sister!

Sooners go 1 and 2 in the draft. Lauren was drafted #1 and Shelby was drafted #2, both going to USSSA Pride.

It's the first time in history that teammates were chosen 1, 2 in the draft.

WOW! I'm a little late catching that news, Norm, but that's fantastic.

I was not able to find tonight's game on Cox (Fox Sports SW). Any idea why? they are covering Baylor and Texas Tech several times this weekend though.

kBroadcasyt not available in sw Florida on any medium. HELP!!!!! Someone post updates, please.

Sorry. I was in the other room watching it on TV. It was on FSSW. OU won 4-2 in a rather strange game.

OU loaded the bases in the first (two walks and a hit batter) and got one run in on a hit batter Then, Self hit a screeching liner off the pitcher for an easy force at home. A Popup by Nicole, and by Casey meant one run out of all of that.

Loaded the bases with one out in the second. Nothing but popouts.

Finally, Erin walked, and Self hit a hard liner into the LF corner for a double. Nicole followed with a single to right. 3-0

But, an error put an Iowa State runner on base for a home run. They out hit us. 3-2.

Once again in the bottom of the sixth, we loaded the bases on walks. Self walked in a run. 4-2. Nicole took a third strike.

We only hit a few balls hard. Lauren had a double to right center, but Shelby followed with a popup for the third out. Casey hit a couple of shots, but right at someone. Shelby popped up every time.

Sounds like their pitcher was throwing rise balls and we were hitting under the ball. So Casey played! Great!!

Some observations:
We are taking the first pitch. I see Lauren and Shelby strlaning and wanting to swing. It happens so often with our best hitters that I think it may be on instruction; Shelby was whizzed after being hit wlith a pitch and threw arm protectors towards the first base coach; Shelby swung at a pitch when the count was 3-0 so she must have a green light.

Gasso:

On Kelsey Stevens not pitching this weekend:

“Well, what we’re searching for is consistency and she’s struggling with that right now. We let her go for a while at Texas Tech, but we’re coming to a place where we can’t let that get away from us. It just changes the whole momentum of your team. She’s getting her opportunities at practice to get this worked out, it just has to translate to the game.”

On what Kelsey is having trouble with:

“I think it’s just getting comfortable and just getting back to her expectations that are high. I don’t even know how to explain it, it’s just something that she’s trying to deal with and work through. We’re behind her, but we’re at a different place in our season now where we have to get things going.”
