And yet they got drilled by LSU.

Yeah, LSU has a great team and they were playing before a full house at LSU. OU lost 1-0 in game 1 and then Stevens set up LSU with her continued struggles in game 2.

LSU then went to Kentucky and lost two of three. Of course, OU whipped Kentucky earlier in the season.

Shelby has yet to face a team that refuses to pitch to her. If anything, she has had a greater tendency to slumps than has Lauren.

They are never going to refuse to pitch to Shelby after they walk Lauren. Two free baserunners against OU is a recipe for disaster although ISU got away with it in Game 1. It caught up with them in Game 3.

Right now, Lauren has 40 walks and Shelby has 26 walks.

Shelby had that prolonged slump a couple of seasons ago. Since then, she's hit fairly consistently. And that slump was actually no worse than the one Lauren experienced recently.

If Pendley continues her onslaught on opposing pitchers, the Sooners' opponents will eventually be forced to start pitching to Lauren, at least in certain situations. When that happens, it's Katy Bar the Door.

I'd like to see Lauren and Shelby finish one-two at the top of the all-time homerun list, though I realize that's a longshot.

By the way, can anyone tell me how it was the USSSA Pride managed to have the top two picks (Lauren and Shelby) in the recent professional draft? Just curious.

Last season’s Ringor Cup and Cowles Cup Champions, the USSSA Pride will lead the Draft, having acquired the #1 and #2 overall picks from the PA Rebellion and the Akron Racers respectively. The Pride also holds the fourth selection, due to their overall finish from 2014, ultimately giving them three of the first four selections. Only the Chicago Bandits and the Dallas Charge will join the Pride in making first round selections

Sooners win, 10-1, over Arkie! Shelby and Georgia both hit 2 HR each. Georgia's first career grand slam!

Hmmm, that puts the elder Pendley at 79 total HRs, only 9 behind Lauren, who seems stuck on 88. Hopefully, she will rip a few more in the next week or so, to get her over the 90 hump...

Next up is a 3 game set with the Lady Horns in Austin. How good is their pitching this year?

With Texas, you don't know what you get this year. They have beaten:
Arizona State
Georgia
UCLA

They have lost to:
Lamar
North Carolina
Georgia Southern

They swept Arkansas at Fayetteville: 8-7, 11-2, 8-6
They swept Kansas: 6-0, 11-5, 7-5

So their last two opponents' (neither of them world-beaters) pitching has yielded 5 or more runs per game in four of the six games... Sounds like their pitching can be had.

Actually, their last three opponents have been less than stellar:
13-12 over Houston in Houston
10-2 over Texas State in San Marcos
6-5 over Texas State in Austin
11-2 over A&M Corpus Christi in Austin

Softball is a sport in which one good day by a pitcher can win a game for a lesser team. But, on paper, this isn't even close.

OU scores about 9.5 runs per game to UT's 6.5.
OU permits one fewer run per game.
OU has, by far, the most dominating pitcher.
Texas doesn't have one hitter in the top fifteen of the Big Twelve. OU has nine.
Texas is one of the poorer fielding teams in the Big Twelve. OU is the best.

Texas is good at preventing stolen bases. This should be a walkover. Somehow, I doubt it.

I see no reason not to expect a sweep.

The games are on LHN this weekend. I do get that on my package from UVerse.

Pains me to say it, but I'll be tuned in. I try very hard not to support any endeavor that is whorn-related. On the other hand, maybe Bevo will get the scours and the stench will force the tea-sippers to forfeit the series.

Lauren is the only player that I have seen that hits what should be a popup and has it land twenty feet beyond the fence. When others hit a home run, it is over the fence. Her distances should be recorded in time zones. I have never seen anyone hit the ball as hard when she is in a groove.

That Tulsa World article is outstanding. Guerin Emig can really write. In my dreams I see Lauren busting out the stadium lights as in "The Natural".
