I'm just reading so far into Joe's comments at the end for the sake of debate.

Was thinking the same thing. Almost like there was a silver lining in his comments. If this happens I'll be freaking stoked. I told people that I thought something like this was in works to get Kruger here. He had a great facility to play at and they were almost done building a brand new state of the art practice facility at UNLV. OU already has that and really has that if LNC becomes the office/practice/ museum for mens and womens basketball. I love the idea of having a 12-13k arena that the fans are right on top of the court smack dab in the middle of campus. If that happens, I promise you attendance will pick up because the students can go drink at campus corner before the game and almost every student can just walk from their home or dorm. Atmosphere will be off the charts!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that. Everything he said alluded to the possiblity of a new stadium being built in the heart of the campus...I cannot imagine anything cooler than that!

12-13k is too many IMO

10k is the max

I hate to be the downer on it, but I dont think they will ditch the LNC for the games, even though I would love that. But if that did however happen, I'll come back on here and JOYFULLY state that i was wrong. :)

10k works, sucks that it really needs to be where McCasland is though.

I agree... 10K would be perfect... it would drive ticket prices up (help pay for the place), and generate much more interest via the student section...

On campus, right here, here, here.

I guess he is going to build the facility there on campus is what I gather.

if they did it they would put McCasland's face back on it...or build out from McCasland's face.

Parking would be something that would have to be one of the first things looked at

That was exactly what Joe C. was alluding to. There's no debating that, but he also let it be known in no uncertain terms that support of the new coach and the Sooners will be a prerequisite.

That is exactly what I first thought of but then remembered that the football games bring 100,000+ people to campus. They will find spots.

Um, 85,000+ people find parking for football gamedays... I don't think it'll be an issue.

What would McCasland's capacity if you had a game there today?

I dont think people will go to the trouble of walking 7 blocks and paying to park in people's yards for our bball team is all

Not sure why, but the costs of arenas fall into two categories, about 9,000 or less and arenas that have more than 10,000. the smaller arenas can be built nicely for $20mil or less, if you want a bigger one they get into the $100 mil range. This is why Tulsa build the Reynold to hold about 9,000. Frankly, I don't remember why this is so but was explained to me by a guy that works for the Tulsa Athletic department during a discussion on the reason for the size of the Reynolds arena.

If the above is true, and I don't know that it is, then I say build something along the lines of the Reynolds (about 9000 seats) for a managable sum, and cut a deal with the Ford center for the 2-4 games a year where we might have a crowd that would greatly exceed this number.

Between the Duck Pond lot, the garages (Union and Owen), the Sarkey's lots, and the lot around the Huff (although its smaller now), parking wouldn't be *too* bad.

there would be plenty of parking. There is the parking garage plus the lots just east of the football stadium. and the Sarkeys lots.
I don't think parking wwould be a problem but it sure would suck to get in and out of
