85,000 people find a place to park six or seven Saturday's in the fall to go to a stadium right next door. You're telling me 10-12 thousand couldn't park without issue for 15 or 16 home games? You have to be kidding.
Now let's think about this. All football games are on Saturdays, which means the lots on campus are not being used by faculty or students. Also, a lot of people park on the streets or in the frat house or regular house lawns. In bad weather, this wouldn't be an option and I don't see frats/sororities opening their lots on school nights for basketball games. So, this takes away most of the parking used on gamedays except the ones that require a bit of a walk, like the duck pond. Is walking from the duck pond to McCasland further than walking from extreme points of the parking lot of the LNC to the LNC?
Not to mention, if the frat or regular house lawns were opened as well as church parking lots, elementary schools, etc., then they are going to charge people to park.
Isn't the LNC still free parking? It was until 5 years ago, but maybe that's changed.
In the end, parking is an issue, no matter how you slice it.
