New Verbal - ????

I will be very interested in finally hearing her recruiting story. It seems unusual.

I'm excited about this new player! After watching her videos, I think she might be just as good as any of the other top forwards/posts in this class. Her game does appear to be similar to that of J. Holmes from UT, so that's promising. Maybe she's rated lower because of lack of exposure, who knows. I'm hoping she's in fact 6'3", you never know. I'm still unsure how tall Madison Williams is, i've seen anything from 5'10 to 6'2!

She has been to several camps because what has been posted about her is usually from scouts at camps. I think it may be that Heritage is a new school, since no other female D-1 commits have come from Heritage. That might limit exposure to some extent. But, she has been to camps with the top prospects in the nation over about a four or five year period. I see the same thing over and over, "on the rise." Well, let's hope that she continues to rise.

I rather like this class. Murcer is not ranked. But scouts say that she is an aggressive scorer. Taylor Robertson was POY of Kansas as a junior, and her shooting is out of sight. It's not like she is the only player in Kansas. Tatum was the MVP of a team that won the national title. She seems to be a natural leader in whatever she does. Good athlete. Williams is the biggest mystery. She appears to be at least 6-1. But, I can't find much about her. Being #8, she should have been gathering some attention. Now, Nydia appears to be someone with a future. This is an entire team, although I don't think there is a center here. I see a PF, W/SF, two SG, and a PG.

But, we are still recruiting two for 2018, maybe three. That's a lot to bring in at one time.

She's an athlete that loves playing defense and a hoss on the boards. I like

It’s believed that OU got another Verbal yesterday, No confirmation but I’m guessing that its 2020 or 2021...

It looks like a commit. But, I see no evidence of who, what, or where.

I wonder, if it indeed is a new commit, who it could be? I mean, don't we only have two slots available and we are still hosting Rokia Doumbia and Yo'Myris Morris some time in the next two months? If it is someone else, I wonder who? on espn hoopgurlz it says we are considering another pt. guard, Bryce Nixon....as said before, you never really know until that person commits! Personally, I'd like us to get at least one other top 100 commit. How Lampkin isn't a top 100 kid I will probably never understand, she looks like a game changer!

Nevermind! I see Nixon has already committed to Arizona, she that leaves me completely baffled on who this kid may be!

Again, we never know with Sherri. We didn't know about Madison Willaims (or I didn't) until she committed. We had no clue on Taylor Robertson or Nydia Lampkin until they committed. There have been others that have visited, and we haven't heard the results of their visits.

Two scouts that tend to post commits, Raoul and Keil Moore, have both not discovered that OU got Nydia Lampkin. At least, Raoul knows about the scheduled visits with Rokia and Yo'Myris, but not about others. We have 44 days of this to wait.

The commit might even be from next year's class. A couple are chomping at the bit to come to OU.

Someone on the staff was at an AAU tournament over the weekend, I think it was mostly 2020 and 2021 class kids, so it’s possible it’s a player who will come in a few classes from now...

We had 2 post players from 2021 in for an unofficial visit about a weekend ago, and OU started following Aaliyah Moore on twitter recently.

The talent that has been coming from Texas the last few years doesn’t look that strong in 2019,2020, or 2021, so maybe if Sherri can sign some of these good Oklahoma kids the gap could start to close sooner then later, Baylor more so then Texas has been able to get kids from other states, so they will continue to have success...

Rae Burrell cleared to play at Liberty

The landscape of girls basketball in the Sunrise Region has changed.

Former Foothill star Rae Burrell, arguably the best player in Southern Nevada, will play her senior season at Liberty.

Currently ranked as the 44th best player in the nation by HoopGurlz, Burrell moved into Liberty’s zone over the summer, and was officially cleared Tuesday to play for the Patriots.

“I loved playing with the girls at Foothill, and I loved being a part of last year’s regional championship,” Burrell said. “But I also felt the system at Liberty fit my game much better, and I thought I could mesh well with what they’re doing there for my senior season.”

Burrell said she has around 20 college offers, but her top four currently are Marquette, Tennessee, Oregon State and Oklahoma. With Burrell on the roster, Liberty coach Chad Kapanui believes he may have his most dominating team since current UNLV Lady Rebel Paris Strawther starred for the Patriots four years ago.

“Having a player like Rae really helps any program out. I’m just happy it’s with ours,” Kapanui said. “She gives you a lot of options. You can utilize her in so many different ways. Whether it’s on offense or defense, she can really help any team. Adding her to my team just give other teams match up problems.”

The 6-foot-1-inch senior wing can be a nightmare who can get things done on the inside, and is dominant anywhere around the paint. She can play point guard through power forward, but will likely see more time in the backcourt with Utah-commit Dre’una Edwards returning to Liberty’s frontcourt.

Burrell helped Foothill end Liberty’s four-year reign atop the Sunrise Region, leading the Falcons to a 55-52 win over the Patriots in the Sunrise title game. The combination of Burrell and Edwards instantly makes Liberty the team to beat in the Sunrise this coming season.

Ultimately, both Kapanui and Burrell have one goal in mind: catching three-time defending state champion Centennial.

“I’m going to my miss friends and teammates, but essentially with this being my final year of high school, and my future coming down to one last season, I needed to do what was best for me,” Burrell said. “And my goal is to graduate a state champion.”

OU has been following her for a while, on twitter, I thought she would pick Tennessee, but looks like OU has a chance...

With five already committed, I'm surprised that we are still after so many. I guess that she would be in competition with Yo'Myris Morris, about the same size. We may be in a "first to commit" situation with one or two scholarships. Do you bring in seven? Eight?

Can OU bring in 8 players? What would the number situation look like for the 2019 class?

Rae looks like she would play in the paint for OU...

We have ten, lose four to graduation. In theory, we have nine for 2018, adding one for 2019. So, we essentially have ten available for two years, assuming nobody leaves.
