If I am looking at the roster right we will loose 4 players to graduation after next year and 5 the year after that! With a lot of those players being our "Bigs". One poster in another tread had brough up a like concern with the recruitment of Jurick. Not that I don't want him and Goff but they will then also graduate out in two years as well.
What do you guys think, will that handicap us getting guards because I don't see how we could not afford to take at least one post next year with the four ships coming open. We have to have someone in the pipeline with more than two years eligilibity don't we?

Don't forget Richy Peters.

How is he doing, anyway? Anyone? Bueller?

I think the reason OU is going after Jurrick so hard is because of the need for a post who can have impact quickly. Also has to be a factor that the 2011 prep class is weak overall and especially in posts.

This is what the roster looks like starting in 2012 based on what Capel has said on the radio and other recruiting tidbits I've seen.

2012
Seniors
F Nick Thompson
F C.J. Washington
F Barry Honore (walk on)
F T.J. Franklin (walk on)

Juniors
F Roe Osby
F Andrew Fitzgerald
F Robert Goff
F Kyle Hardrick (no idea whats going to happen with him, I think the academic issues might be a sign that he's gone, just my guess)
G Steven Pledger
Juco Post (Projected)
G Carl Blair

Sophomores
Wing Cameron Clark
G Calvin Newell

Freshman
Point Guard projected

1 open ship (wouldn't be surprised to see it given to TJ or Barry as they will be graduating anyway, help the APR)

Incoming freshman
F Richy Peters

With the two other open projected ships for 2012 (at least) I would expect another post player to be added and then a 2/3 type.

2013 is going to be big as the staff is going to need to bring in a lot of kids to reload, might be as many as 6 open ships.

Did Osby play two years at mississippi state?
If he only played one, and he is red shirting this year, he will be in sophmore standing next year with 3 years to play right?

He played two years at Miss St.
2009-10 (MISSISSIPPI STATE)
Averaged 4.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game for a 24-12 squad that advanced to the second round of the NIT ... Played in 35 of 36 games and made three starts ... Shot .462 from the field, .410 (16-for-39) from 3-point range and .634 (26-for-41) from the free throw line ... Recorded 22 assists, 12 blocked shots and eight steals ... Scored in double figures three times with a season-high 13 points in 17 minutes versus DePaul ... Grabbed a season-high seven rebounds on two occasions (vs. DePaul and at Alabama) ... Projected 40-minute scoring and rebounding averages were 13.3 and 7.8 ... Played a season-high 38 minutes in home overtime loss to No. 2 Kentucky ... Coached by Rick Stansbury.

2008-09 (MISSISSIPPI STATE)
Averaged 4.1 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game (13.2 points and 8.3 rebounds when projected to 40 minutes) for a 23-13 squad that lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament ... Played in all 36 games and came off the bench in each ... Shot .432 from the field, .286 (8-for-28) from 3-point distance and .672 (39-for-58) from the foul line ... Scored in double figures three times with a career-high 15 vs. North Alabama in season's third game ... Netted 13 points versus Houston and 10 versus Charlotte ... Pulled down a career-high eight rebounds in collegiate debut against Centenary ... Coached by Rick Stansbury.

Both great points!

Thanks Sam

He played two years at Miss St.

I didnt realize that...wow, he played two years and only average 4 points both years...how can he be the best player on the team?

I mean fitz, pledge are averaging in the double digits...I dont get it

Based on his highschool highlight videos he looks very athletic, but through two years at a college you should see some production and it doesnt look like he gave any to mississippi state.

Curtis Kelly averaged 2.7 points and 2.0 points in his two seasons at UCONN before transferring. He was a double digit scorer for Kansas St last year.

I do agree that his numbers aren't a good sign but he played behind two upperclassmen post players including one who was drafted (Jarvis Varnado) during his time there.

I have no idea how good Osby will be and I really hope all the "best player" stuff Capel is saying doesn't put unfair expectations on him (we expect him to be a 15 and 8 type but he's a 12 and 6). All I know is that in every interview of Capel's I've heard since October he just goes on and on about the guy. Not only his physical tools but his skills as well. Even if Capel is just half right about him he will surely be a huge impact next season.

Don't forget Richy Peters.

I did not know whether to included Peters or not. Obviously if he makes it in he would have a couple of years to mature before we need him. I hope he makes it and is an impact player. I just don't want to be in the position of have to breake in a bunch of completly inexperieced players again....and I am sure Capel is the same way. I guess we will see what happens, there are a lot of variables we can not predict.
