Nick Thompson and Kyle Hardrick tidbits

Pretty crazy about Hardrick. Guy hits the lottery with an OU basketball scholarship that he really didn't deserve, and instead of making the most of the opportunity just wastes it. Makes you really respect walk-ons like Beau Gerber and T.J. Franklin and Barry Honore.

Yeah agreed, crazy. 19 year old guy gets to go to school and practice every day with a team that he knows he doesn't belong on, gets mocked by message boarders/fans/students on a daily basis who laugh at how much he sucks and also despise him for taking up a precious scholarship from our top 15 program. As an added bonus he gets to spend his days worn out from workouts and practice even though he knows it's all for nothing, his talent will never allow him to sniff the court. And 30-40 year olds with years of perspective and the subtle eraser we call remembrance can't understand why college kids can't understand what we only realized after years of experience. Life is a hard teacher. It gives the test first and the lesson after.

I think the point is he probably should have realized that since the basketball thing wasn't going to work out, he might wanna go ahead and focus on some area of study.

To be fair, I was super lazy in college. There were a couple semesters where I know I wouldn't have been eligible if I was on the basketball team. But then again, I didn't have any scholarships dependent on just going to class.

score one for the board and that vb fella that said definitively that Thompson and Hardrick were gone.

I feel for Thompson... I mean he has 1 year left and is seeking to transfer ? I doubt it was fully his choice and honestly as a program I would have preferred we honor any commitment we made to him to finish out his time here. (Assuming we did push him out).

This was going pretty good until the end, when it became incoherent rambling

I think there has to be more than meets the eye with Thompson.

I mean, there has to be a reason he wasn't even getting minutes at the end of blowouts for the second half of the season.

Promised I wouldn't mention it on the board. He had some disciplinary issues.

This is no surprise. Thompson is a cancer to the team and locker room. I told you all over a month ago he was gone. He was leaving even if Capel stayed.

Lots more to Thompson than meets the eye. In fact, he's leaving the team to focus on his passion.

He's trying out for a big ballet company to perform as the lead character in the Nutcracker:

Absolutely couldn't play at Division 1 level. Wish him the best in the NAIA.

If true that he had some disciplinary problems then he fooled the rest of the team as well as Capel because it was the players that made him captain. Again if true I just don't get it he has to know he won't make the show so why not work hard get a degree from a well respected university? Makes no sense to be a problem and then have to go somewhere else for one year. Then again logic and sense did not have anything to do with a lot of decisions I made in college so I will cut him some slack and wish him well if he goes.

Not sure I believe this. If he was a cancer, how was he selected as the team captain?

Even worse, why didn't somebody take it away from him? No rule exists that says a player can't lose his status as the team captain.
