Nick Thompson deciding between OU and Utah

Good point. Based on what I've read, I think Thompson and Newell will help us as much as whoever else is available. Washington, too.

However, we don't really know until they get on campus.
So you're telling me he's the new "gotta have him" guy of the day?

Wait, we don't really know until they're on campus, but we're making a catastrophic mistake by not offering Washington immediately? I'm confused.

Is that what you would call the Jai Lucas/John Roberson fiasco?

Well, there are quite a few people after Capel for taking Hardrick extremely early as well. And to call that a "fiasco" is a little strong; don't you think?

Of everything I've read about the available prospects, and considering we will have 7 scholarship players next year if we don't sign anybody else, then yes, in my opinion, these are the 3 I would call "must haves".

Does this mean if we get none of the 3 we won't be better without them, no.

However, I will tell you if we are faced with not signing anybody else and taking these 3 guys, I'd take these 3 guys because we need bodys.

That's all I'm trying to say.

Forgive me if I think it's okay for the coaching staff to carefully weigh their options and do their due diligence when recruiting a 6'5" post player from Connors State.

Dude...you need to get a cup of coffee because you are throwing out incorrect facts and backtracking all over the place today.

Hardrick was offered in the 9th grade, how does that compare to Washington?

And, slow playing a good player WHO WANTED TO COME HERE (Roberson) for a higher rated player WHO HAS DONE NOTHING (Lucas) was a fiasco. Especially when we have ZERO PG's on our roster now. If we had Roberson, we would be going into next year with a veteran PG and our chances for success next year would be much higher.

I'm not criticizing you or any other poster that believes this. You are probably right.

Knowing our recent luck, we slow-play him because of his injury, and he goes to ORU or Murray State and has 20 rebounds in a game vs us and ORU or MSU beats us by double-digits.

William Cheese Davis was 6'5" and so was Ernie Abercrombie. Sometimes size isn't all that, especially if the player has heart and determination. Davis led the conference in rebounding and so did Ernie.

Exactly. It isn't like Mich. St., Duke, and KU are beating down his door. A couple of extra days to evaluate the kid is probably time wisely spent.

If the guys we were in on were significantly better than the 6'5 guy from Connors. Nick Thompson averaged 7pts and 4rbs coming off of the bench. Are those 3 inches worth that much more. Also, the slow playing is based on Terrence Jones more than anybody. Washington is better right now than all the post players on our team.

You are really trying hard to find inconsistencies today. In one instance we signed a player EARLY who really wanted to come to Oklahoma (Hardrick) that people on here have complained about, in another instance we didn't sign a player EARLY who really wanted to come to Oklahoma [I guess] and now you are complaining about it. Doesn't seem that complicated to me?

I'm not surprised.

If I had a nickel for every time you have mentioned Ernie Abercrombie or William "Cheese" Davis on this board I would likely have over $10 in my pocket by now. Not trying to rip on you, just sayin lol

You'd probably have more than $10...maybe more like $100. :ez-roll:

I'll admit it.

Washington is better than Gallon and Fitzgerald? I hope not, otherwise we're in for a looooong year next year.

If Washington is better than Gallon and Fitz, and comes here, wouldn't OU be in for a surprise? In a good way? Just thinking out loud...

I was thinking the same thing, but I know what seniorsooner meant...more of an indictment of Gallon and Fitz.

I think Fitzgerald is going to surprise some people next year if he puts in the work this spring/summer.

I agree. I liked what I saw from him down the stretch. The only negative for him is his mobility. Some of the 4's in this league abused him at times this past year. I hope he can improve that.
