Nick Thompson deciding between OU and Utah

Yeah he's definitely going to have to improve his quickness. I hope that will be a major focus for him in the offseason.

I love that he is consistent with that mid-range jump shot. He'll never be an above the rim guy, but there are plenty of good players who are not. I think that a big problem that he had (as most freshmen do) was defensively, that can be coached up.

Washington is better than Gallon and Fitzgerald? I hope not, otherwise we're in for a looooong year next year.

I'm under the assumption Gallon won't come back. And their are things that Washington can do effectively that Fitz can't like get up and down the floor, rebound and move his feet.

I'll take some of that...!
But I understand to take the time to do our (coaches) homework.

There's enough on Washington to know what type of guy he is. I suspect OU has been to more than a few of his games, there is film, and the coaches were at the National tourney. They know how good he is. Their opinion is that there are uncommitted guys better. I hope we don't get bit by waiting on the uncommitted guys they like better.

For Thompson - it should be a no brainer. I guess that we will find out a lot as to how good his decision making process is.

If they are slow playing Washington, I would be careful on slow playing him. It does not seem that we have had a lot of success with that (Capel staff signing people late).

I think Fitzgerald is going to surprise some people next year if he puts in the work this spring/summer.

I like Fitz. I think he's very solid. He just is outmatched against certain guys. I don't think Washington or Thompson are as outmatched. My fear with Thompson is he won't give us what we need in terms of rebounding and scoring.

Now that Tiny is gone we desperately need both Washington and Thompson, or we won't even HAVE a frontcourt, much less a good one.

We could use Orlando Allen too. Unless Capel pulls out a miracle in the next few weeks, we are toast.

O is done as well. He is focusing on his degree and family.

We have 7 scholarship players and 3 walkons right now, and all of them are either 2's, 3's or 4's...so we could play a 4 guard lineup, but we don't have a point, and we don't have a post, so we still need AT LEAST 2 more guys...

with tiny gone guards are not the issue...we will have plenty of good guards to play
1) cade
2) pledger
3) tj
4) clark
5) neal
6) new recuirt

Maybe we could petition the NCAA or Big 12 to force our opponents to only play guards when they play us?

Or, maybe we could request all home games are actually 3-on-3 instead of 5-on-5. Better yet, we could play half-court basketball like the womens basketball when I was a kid, or just play 21 or something.

When might we hear something on Thompson. I like everything I have heard about his game.

Supposedly he's deciding between us and Utah and will do so by May 1

Now that Washington looks like he's going to be a sooner, this lineup wouldn't be too far-fetched and wouldn't be all that bad. 9 players could get it done. Capel usually only plays 7-8 anyway.

G - Newell - Taylor
G - Davis - Pledger
G - Clark
F - Fitz - Neal
F - Washington - Thompson

I really wish we could find a true center, but that's a real long shot this late in the game. I don't want a 7 foot stiff, I want someone that can actually contribute.
