I've mentioned a few in the past:
- the "E" game (which Skyvue mentioned from the '78-79 season), when the OU students actually rallied behind a visiting player in an OU blowout - and booed his replacements when he was taken out of the game. The funny parts were when he'd get the ball and the students mimicked the "E..E..E..." chant of Washington Bullets fans when Elvin Hayes got the ball in the low post.
- of course, the Tubbs "no matter how terrible the officiating is...." comments on the PA system in '89 that turned around the OU-Mizzou game.
- Speaking of Mizzou, back in '81, every time the much-despised MU star Steve Stipanovich got the ball, OU students shot cap guns to make fun of the time he accidentally winged himself and lied about being shot by an intruder.
- I wasn't there, but my brother tells of the time when big-eared ISU center Sam Hill was being introduced before a game, and a student took some newspapers and flapped them behind his ears to imply that Hill's wings looked like the cartoon elephant Dumbo's.
- I can't remember which game it was when I was a student, but someone once donned the costume of the Grim Reaper with a small dummy - head in noose - dressed up to look like a referee.
- and I know I mentioned this one, but my senior-year roommate yelled out, "Hey Spaz!" when a guard from Midwestern State of Wichita Falls, was on the line shooting a foul shot. This was because he was out there resembling the hapless character from the '79 summer classic "Meatballs."
I'm sure there are others worth mentioning. Fire away!
