Nuggets fire Karl

Wow. Coach of the year gets fired! How crazy is that? I know he wasn't happy about their GM leaving for Toronto. Karl has done a great job with very average teams, but they never really had any deep playoff runs either. He'll get a job somewhere else if he wants to. Perhaps the Clippers?

The only thing the Nuggets were missing to me is a star player. They just have a bunch of very good players no real star and that kept them from going to the next level.

Maybe it was Karl who kept them from next level?

Karl's fun and all if you want a team that shows flashes of brilliance, only to fizzle out when the lights are on. Same song, different dance this year. Good move by Nuggets. You either come to the realization he isn't the guy to get you there now, or give him a new contract and waste 5 more years finishing 3-6 in the West and losing early.

I agree.... He had a star in Melo, and got about the same results.

I agree with playmakr and jmizzy but still came as a surprise.

He didn't really get fired, but wanted a long term extension the Nuggets were unwilling to offer. It's the best move for Karl & the Nuggets will regret it. He squeezed 57 wins out of a bunch of injured dimes. Nuggets will be back in the lottery without him. His track record of winning is undeniable. People are really going to blame Karl for Melo & scrubs being eliminated in the 1st round by the Spurs, Lakers & Mavs? That's silly.

He would be a great fit for the Clippers. Blake/Paul could emulate his Payton/Kemp Sonics juggernaut teams.

Bingo.

In fairness to Karl, this current configuration of the Nuggets isn't equipped to make a deep run, but Karl's failure to get this team out of the first round is just one small part of a long history of postseason flops. Great regular season coach, nice guy...but he can't make in-series adjustments.
