Good win last night! I realize that Odomes played in mop up minutes only, however he appears to be timid and lost. Am I the only one that is thinking this? I am high on this kid and hope he is alright with his confidence. This team is going to need him in the next few years. Thoughts or flame away..

I agree that he looked a bit lost or out of sync last night. I think he just needs time on the court. Coming off the bench at he 38th minute isn't like "normal" basketball. To me, he looked tentative which happens if you aren't seeing minutes.

His play last night doesn't shake my confidence that he can contribute next year.

I think you're spot on. He looked equally as lost in mop up time vs. Baylor. It can't be easy to sit for 38 minutes and then come in when no one else is really all that focused. But I think he'll come around. I saw some flashes of things I liked (especially his willingness to take it to the rim) in nonconference.

Agree with this. Rashard is a young guy. He has a lot of upside and a bright future at OU. Some players are more mature as freshmen than others. Others take longer to develop. As a fan, it will be interesting and fun to watch how Rashard and the other young players develop.

Looked okay in November. Just totally out of sync now. I'm not concerned about his future.

This! He will be fine.

I agree with each of you, I am very confident in his abilities. I am not down on Rashard at all, please understand. The sky is the limit for this kid.

I liked him more than James to start and through the recruiting process.. He seemed pretty solid early in the year and I thought he was going to be the guy, but now there seems like there is no chance for him this season. James has been way better and gets a few minutes every game. High upside and I hope he figures it out next season.

The position change to the 4 seemed to set him back. He may be back at the 3 now. He is lost a little bit and needs to learn how to play in our system. He has a great attitude and will have a productive career at OU.
He will get a shot remake this summer.

His FT shooting form definitely needs some work. Has a hitch / hesitation in the middle of it.

Actually +3 since Traveler agrees with this post.

I think the word "tentative" is spot on in describing what I saw out of Rashard last night. He was a 6A All-State selection his senior season at Copperas Cove, Texas, where he averaged 25.2 points, 12.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.7 steals to become the all-time leading scorer at his school. He was also the Texas MVP at last year's Faith Seven All-Star game when he scored 37 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

Coming off of the bench at mop up time is not exactly a confidence builder for a kid who was accustomed to being "the man" in high school. His accomplishments at Copperas Cove proves he has the potential to develop into a major contributor in college, and maybe be a star someday. All he has to do is continue to work hard and battle against getting too discouraged.

I think when its all said and done. Odomes will be the better scorer of the 2. He'll be fine.

he looks clueless out there... very perplexing.. but im not worried at all. he will get there next year

Isiaih looked clueless as a freshman too. Lattin looked clueless as a freshman. If he's willing to work, he'll do fine.

Freshman who don't look clueless in conference play are very rare.

How a kid looks in the last minute of the game during scrub time is worth nothing more than the pennies you find on the sidewalk. They sit closely for 2 hours. And nothing they do during that time is going to earn them more minutes when you are playing for the number 1 team in the country. And I would bet that close to 9 out of 10 scholarship players could care less about getting on the court for mop up minutes.

odomes will be fine. I look for him to be our next cam Clark.

James is really impressive.

I don't really think he looks that clueless. I think that he looks overwhelmed and playing out of control

Odomes and James will both blossom into very good players their sophomore season (JMHO). It's obvious both of these young men possess elite level talent. However, Rashard should not be expected to excel this year. He's getting only mop-up minutes because he's playing on a team that likely has the best overall starting lineup in the country and he never had much of a chance to break into the rotation.

Christian may, at this point, be a little ahead of his teammate in the way he's adjusting to the college game. And, of course, that's why he's getting a few more minutes on the court.

It seems that most of us agree that we shouldn't worry and that good times should continue for the Sooners with these two young men in the program.

Absolutely. I noticed that last night. It hadn't been there earlier in the season, but he's been a spotty free throw shooter all season. His FT stroke looked really out of sync last night. It was very jerky.
