Is Hitting the recruiting trail pretty hard.

They are in the final 3 of the Junior College National player of the year
Adut Bulgak 6'4 post out of Trinity Valley community College.

Was previously Committed to North Carolina back in 2011 out of Canada.

Who are the other two finalists? Is it Texas, Purdue and Oklahoma State? I know she's visited Texas before. She spent this past weekend at OSU and will visit Purdue later this week.

It's not like a 6-4 athletic post JUCO could help OSU
or OU???

Not signing anyone this spring with no verbals for 2015 already in the bank??
It's not like 2015 recruiting is going gang busters with verbals or leans or
visits or hell even mentions that they know OU plays women's
from elite players.

Just another big deficit in the imagined "Sherri's tired of recruiting" score.
Which again can be eliminated at any point by excellent recruiting results.

I thought we had a top rated post coming in this year along with some highly regarded guards...

When Tarleton State signs someone, some people think we should have taken a look. We're OK.

syb,
She's a 6-4 JUCO 2 time juco all american who was signed by UNC out of HS.

OU is dying for post help.

Any reasonable fan can wonder why OU was not involved.

BigD,
2014 recruiting is over.
OU signed a highly rated PG in Gabe Ortiz
Signed the best in state player in SG Lanesia Williams
OU signed a great looking post prospect from Florida, unfortunately she blew out her ACL in February.
Good class, OU signed an extra combo guard further creating roster imbalance. And did not sign a big wing who can play the 4 or an extra post who can play the 4 or 5 spots.

2015???
no verbals, no players leaning to OU, lots of alleged offers, some unofficial visitor traffic during football games and during OU home games. 3 ships available I think? Probably more with the glut of combo guards on the roster

2016 verbal Chelsea Dungee 5-10 instate SG. top 30 player nationally.

2017 verbal Ana LLanusa 5-11 instate SG. could easily end up top 50 nationally.

As usual, Atlanta is right on the money. We are overloaded with guards while hurting for bigs. Kaylon has a serious problem with fouling and she is inconsistent. ViVi is a question mark because of her injury and the fact we don't know how well she will play against D-1 talent.

I would be reluctant to button hole Kaylon as inconsistent and a fouler. She had missed a year and was coming off a serious injury. Much of her preseason conditioning was limited to riding a stationary bike.

Coming off a healthy summer and going into the fall, I'm confident that the team will be rewarded with vastly improved post play, in relation to what we have had the last 4 years. Developing back up and post role players is a task Sherri will handle just fine.

We can only judge Kaylon on how she's played, not on how we hope she will play in the future. While I hope she will be much better this year, there is certainly reason to be concerned.

I'm also reluctant to limit myself to hindsight perspectives. But, even at that, there is ample evidence that Kaylon has a higher ceiling than Nicole. She has shown flashes of pretty darned good. A serious injury and a missed season is a serious disruption to a players development. Especially bigs.

I'll spend my summer not concerned at all with post play and we can let the different perspectives play themselves out in the fall.

Names like Jelena an Portia come to mind. There aren't many Adams in the juco ranks, and results are better if you stick to four-year recruits. We have an excellent 2014 post, and we have zero idea of who is coming in. We have never had much of an idea of whom Sherri might be recruiting.

While some lament the lack of posts, every time someone mentions another 5-10 guard or forward from Oklahoma or nearby, someone is asking why we let this one get away. It might be that we have enough 5-10 guards and forwards, and we can get all of them we want. We only have a couple of scholarships available, and I don't think Sherri is looking to fill them with more of the same. I think her comment about Penzo was that we didn't need another guard, but that she couldn't pass her up. I think she'll pass most of them up.

The grass always seems to be greener, but I think we have enough grass on this lawn.

I read this board EVERY day and am very aware of who we have coming in, a top rate post in this class who, Yes, hurt her ACL but is considered a top 100 recruit and from what I understand hasn't been playing that long. I can understand people wanting more post players/players with size but we have a really good class coming in and a lot on talent returning. I think the staff will sign some good bigs, no doubt in my mind. I do remember all the complaining about not using our "ships" up and signing enough people to cover if someone is hurt. Now all I see is we have signed to many guards, need bigs. Seems like some people only see the negative side of things. I want some size too, but am not about to draw and quarter this staff/team.

You know you guys kumbaya'ing/ Google Now like +1 each other
does not change the fact that Kaylon Williams is it at PF and Center right now.

Guess I'm only proving my point from earlier.

Any reasonable objective fan can wonder why OU did not try to recruit
Adut Bulgak.
Who was a juco all american in back to back years.
And out of HS was signed by UNC.
She's not your usual JUCO prospect.
OU after Vionese's injury is critically short players at PF and Center.

I have previously said that I am not a fan of jucos (at least not the ones we have recruited in recent years) BUT, I would take this girl in a heartbeat! Even if Kaylon instantly becomes the next Brittany Griner we are still lacking in numbers of bigs. Bulgat may or may not become a really good center in college but she would still add to our depth and give Sherri options she will not otherwise have.
