With Buzz to OU looking dead in the water, and Sittler saying our pool of candidates is "shallow", who do we go after next? Any guesses? Anyone with some actual solid info?

Johnny Jones or Terry Evans.

Both guys would turn the program around and win big here.

Been saying Johnny Jones since Day 1, would like to see it happen b/c it would make me feel good about myself.

Johnny Jones is the man.

Being from the area, I know Jones has good ties to the Metroplex and Texas in general. He is a respected coach who has done some good things as a player (stud at LSU) and coach.

You can win with any system, it's all about getting the guys to fill the roles and I think Jones can do that. It's understandable that people want a Buzz over a Jones, but in my opinion there really isn't a whole lot of difference between the two. Sure Buzz was in a Sweet 16, but it's not like his teams have set the world on fire the past few years. Consider what Jones has accomplished at North Texas to be a bit more impressive. Now if we were looking to hire a coach from a school similar to UNT that wasn't from this area, I would be concerned.

6 straight 20 win seasons at North Texas is beyond impressive. That program won a total of 14 games in 5 seasons prior to hiring Jones.

Why not

...Theus is a sleaze. Had a friend who played under him at NMSU, even though they made the tourney that year, he wasn't a huge fan. The players he brought in were very questionable from a behavior standpoint. (see: Herb Pope)

What about his style of play?

I tweeted Emig and he said if Buzz is off the table he would "guess" OU would make a run at Dave Rose, Lon Kruger and/or Kevin Stallings.

If we miss out on Buzz & then go straight to a cheap hire cause Joe is afraid of getting told no, I will be livid. Tad and Rose are legit fall back canidates, I would offer the damn job to Doc Sadler before offering it to Jones,Evans or Marshall

G Swaim retweeted my exchange with Emig and says: "No Buzz, rule all but Rose out. NCAA scaring them off."

Well, that settles it, we're doomed! :ez-laugh:

Swaim is a total dufus. He's a has been who never was much of anything when it comes to being an authority on basketbal.

All right, I was against Johnny Jones but thebigabd and campbest have convinced me. I'm in on him as a good choice.

Edit: I notice my phone autocorrects thebigabd to 'turbofan.' cool

I never heard that, but I'm not surprised either. Theus was just an a-hole from everything I saw of him when he coached in the state of New Mexico. If you don't like Less Miles, you'd hate Theus.
