Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-9, 6-7 vs. Texas [15-11, 5-8] Game Thread<<<<<

This is a very difficult season to be an OU fan I don’t see much to be positive about in the future. OU will lose its best player and does. Not appear to have a point guard for next season.
OU will be about what they been for decades...16-20+ wins every once in a while make a good run come March. Very possible that OU could have the same or even better record at this time next year.

Impossible with trae gone and kruger still "coaching"

Not sure any team plays a worse press then OU also.

The defense is terrible. We can agree on that.

I think this team and coaching staff became to dependent on TY, work fine early but when teams figured out TY the damage was done.

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-9, 6-7 vs. Texas [15-11, 5-8] Game Thread<<<<<

We are going to average about 15 wins in back to back seasons with a player who probably wins the Naismith on one of those teams .

Again , it’s time for a fundamental change .

I agree, but it would be inappropriate to make that change this year. I expect us to be really bad next year and if that indeed occurs, then I think there would be justification to move in another direction.

I've been a critic of Lon's personal coaching style (he's too lax with certain players) and his schematics at times. Although I can't argue with his success over the course of his career, I still have always viewed his teams through the lens of an unwillingness to truly commit on the defensive end. In his more veteran-laden teams, this defensive issue hasn't been the case as much.

The sad part is I think he is a fantastic guy and I like him a lot, but I just don't see this trend reversing next year unfortunately.

If I were a moderator I would ban you and I never ban anyone. You are simply not someone I would want in my life. Way too negative. Please do everyone a favor and leave

Well said

Ya it can be both.. you also force baseline to your help... we don't play defense tho

The other thing is where were the guards? The shooter is wide open Manek this s blocking out.

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-9, 6-7 vs. Texas [15-11, 5-8] Game Thread<<<<<

Defense is pathetic.

It has to be the assistant coaches or lack thereof.

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-9, 6-7 vs. Texas [15-11, 5-8] Game Thread<<<<<

Sad to see a team with that played so well early struggle so bad recently and today in particular.

We had the best offensive team in the country and now we can't score two possessions in a row and shoot under 30% at home.

Maybe they'll be some sort of 11th hour turnaround, but right now this team looks dead. The coroner is just dragging our decaying carcass from city to city across the Big 12.

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-9, 6-7 vs. Texas [15-11, 5-8] Game Thread<<<<<

This team looks spooked, rattled, utterly without a clue and is playing with no fire whatsoever.

I was reasonably confident of a victory today because it was such a must-win game. I just knew the guys would come out and play with fire and passion. I didn't know if a win today would get us fully back on track, with KU looming on Monday, but I was hopeful that it would.

How woefully wrong I was.

I wish it had been a night game. I don't think the early start did us any favors, but it was early for texas, too, so that's no excuse.

You can't beat anyone shooting 30%, plain and simple--especially when your opponent shoots over 50%. It's hard to believe we lost by just 11. Free throws were the only thing that kept us within striking distance.

I may watch the Sooner women's softball game later to get the bad taste out of my mouth.

Defense has been the same all year

This team sucks now because they can’t shoot

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-9, 6-7 vs. Texas [15-11, 5-8] Game Thread<<<<<

What's most frustrating is the coaching staff not willing to make any changes. Maybe you start your best 5 players and take out Lattin and Manek. Or to stop the laziness on defense, you change the scheme up. Don't have players switch everything cause we end up getting lost and lazy.

16-20+ wins?

What does that mean?

Wouldn’t the more simple formula be 16+?

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-9, 6-7 vs. Texas [15-11, 5-8] Game Thread<<<<<

In the last 30 years they’ve won 20+ 21 times.

Well said allday92.

Never cared much for Avery Johnson, but dude had us completely pegged during the Alabama game when he said "the longer they're on defense, the worse they get".

Notice teams not taking quick shots on us ... why would they? Teams know with a few passes and couple of ball screens, our attention will lapse and something easy will pop wide open.

I think the lack of fundamentals, attention to detail and effort on the defensive end - and no fire, passion and leadership from a player or coach - bother me more than the losing.

Teams are much smarter about defending us now. You force OU to beat you off the dribble and you don’t give easy kick outs to the wings. Even with that we are still missing a lot of good looks. We have to shoot better in this half.

In the game at Texas we got a lot of easy buckets but Texas learned their r lesson on that.

it's called coaching. We haven't done anything to change that approach since Wv there....where is our coaching?

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-9, 6-7 vs. Texas [15-11, 5-8] Game Thread<<<<<

Forget TY not blocking out, our bigs are TERRIBLE at blocking out and doing what their job is and not letting Offensive rebounds or open drives to the basked and man Latin is awful 0 will not miss him a bit let that guar fly by him and No effort to block it at all. I think, as much as I love him, Lon has lost this team and kinda given up which surprises me. Lon did take us to the final 4 and has taken 5 or 6 programs to the tourney so he is a very good coach but has lost something this year.

ut only had 4 off rebounds...of their 43ish. OU had 8 off boards.
