**Oklahoma Sooners vs Cal State Northridge Matadors Game Thread**

I'll be happy when Kornet's shots start falling. It looks like she is drifting a little sideways when she lets it go. She's a very good outside shooter. I've watched this kid knock them down too many times at Liberty Christain to think she won't work it out. :OU-logo:

Probably the best overall game played all year. They came out of the gate ready to play and I'm sure the upset win over UCLA and almost win against Penn State had a lot to do with getting their attention. Played really good defense IMO.

Happy the way the girls played today. Withstood some runs, people stepped up.

We struggle when people want to smash-mouth-play us, particularly when the refs let us get mugged repeatedly and don't call it. Hope this is a good sign for the conference season.

Girls are starting to get on with life without Whitney -- who, I suppose is still home recuperating from surgery.

Good luck ladies and continue to give it all you've got.:clap

It looked like their best game of the season. Also the worst officiated game of the season. Calls ranged from allowing mayhem to calling tickytack. I don't know how bad it can get but we will probably see worse.

This was not a bad team but the Sooners made them look bad. I haven't seen them play with this much energy.

McFarland seems to have finally got her game back and Nicole moved to the ball on rebounds and passes the best I have seen her.

Ellenberg seems to have got her game together and Hook played well for not scoring much.

Campbell seems to be getting back to where she was last year and Durrett played her best game for OU.

Kornet still struggling with her shot. that should come aroud.

Best of all the defense looked really good. Very few uncontested shots and Northridge made most of them. So for the most part we forced them into contested shots and shots they didn't want to take.

Rebounding also the best I have seen this year.

Most of all I was impressed with how we reacted after Northridge hit us in the mouth and got back into the game with physical play. It is the first time I remember a Sooner team adjusting to the rough play and moving on.

I checked the Northridge-UCLA box score and the only clue to what went wrong for UCLA was a high number of turnovers and a pretty poor shooting night. Game must have been a total brawl.

You are never as good as you look when you win this way but it appears that Sherri has done her usual good job of raising their level of play during the Christmas break.

I have to repeat, "this team beat UCLA"? Jo was an absolute monster today. I hope we get this over the next eighteen games. She will be a difference maker for us the way she is playing. The defense really played well today, and we are starting to learn how to break a press. When we hit those three's we are really difficult to defend. Nice to see the newbies get some court time. Looks like its been a while since they have seen the court. I know they are mainly to help out in practice, but it still was nice to see Coach reward the kids for their sacrifice for the team to come and help out. Hope we see more improvement each game from the gals, really nice win today.

I didn't get to see any of the game until there were about 3 minutes left the first half. I could tell almost immediately that the fans were not happy with the officials.

I was there and they weren't! Officiating in women's AND men's college basketball is atrotious! I'm assuming NCAA has decided that to get interest in the game let almost anything go in the name of "keeping the flow of the game going". It's rediculous IMO. Ruining the game. Pushing players down, hitting in the head (although, they call this on one end and not the other). Beats anything I've seen. I've resigned myself to it's not going to get better. Going to result in an on court melee one day and they (NCAA) won't understand why it happened. :facepalm

I'm thinking this UConn team by the end of the season can beat Hypocrite U in the tourney. They have a lot of talent! Just need some more gelling for the newbies (Stewart, etc) and Hartley fully recovering from her injury.

I saw the first 12 minutes or so of this game. Stanford had no clue how to deal with the UConn defense. Who did they lose besides Neka?
