Here is an update on a former Sooner.

Earlier this week, Marshall defeated Tulsa 79-61. The Thundering Herd (19-9, 7-6 Conference USA), which won its fourth straight game, jumped out to a 20-3 lead and led 42-28 at halftime. Tulsa is now 15-12 (8-5).

Orlando Allen comes off the bench for Marshall.

2009-10 (JUNIOR): Played in nine games and averaged 7.0 minutes per contest at the University of Oklahoma...averaged 1.2 points and 1.9 rebounds...had five blocked shots...shot .500 from the field (4-for-8) and .750 from the free throw line (3-for-4)...registered a season-high five points and a career-high seven rebounds in 17 minutes versus San Diego (Nov. 25) in Great Alaska Shootout...made his lone career start against Houston (Nov. 26) and grabbed four rebounds...finished with four points and two boards versus Centenary (Dec. 9).

2008-09 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 19 of the University of Oklahoma's 36 games and came off the bench in each...averaged 1.8 points and 0.8 rebounds in 4.6 minutes per contest...shot .577 from the field (15-for-26) and .400 from the free throw line (4-for-10)...10 of his 16 rebounds were offensive...blocked nine shots on the season...recorded season highs of 10 points, six rebounds and five rejections in 14 minutes against Maryland Eastern Shore (Jan. 5)...scored six points against Coppin State (Jan. 3).

2006-08 (REDSHIRT, FRESHMAN): Attended Paris (Texas) J.C...Did not play in 2007-08 due to right knee and leg injuries...as a freshman in 2006-07 averaged 1.8 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest in limited action for a sophomore-laden team that finished 26-5 overall and 19-3 in conference play...missed eight games due to injury...coached by Ross Hodge.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Woodward High School in Cincinnati, Ohio where he began playing varsity basketball as a junior...coach was Lannis Timmons.

PERSONAL: Born Aug. 22, 1987...Son of Scott Porter and Lisa Allen...boxed from age 11 to 14 at a Cincinnati Boys and Girls Club...graduated from Oklahoma with a degree in multidisciplinary studies...is attending graduate school at Marshall and is enrolled in the adult technical education masters program.
