Osby

If the coach and players say Osby is the best player on the team, why would he come off the bench?

End of discussion. No one on this team has done enough consistently to say they will start next year. They will have to prove it next year in preseason and practice. I like Clark, but he's got a lot of room for improvement. If Osby is the best then he should start.

The same people who voted Nick Thompson captain, right?

fair enough, but since when does team captain = best player?

Coming off of what we had last year, I'm sure the emphasis this year in selecting team captains was probably a little more focused on attitude, off-the-court conduct, and work ethic. I'm not an expert on Nick's personal life, but my assumption would be that he worked hard in the off-season and set a good example in that regard, and that is why he was selected as a team captain.

It's not like we had a bunch of other guys who would be obvious team captain material to choose from.

I am really hoping Goff is a starter. OU has to get better at rebounding. My hope is that OU essentially has six starters:

PF Fitzgerald
SF Osby
W Clark
SG Pledger
PG Blair
Center Goff

With each guy averaging about 30 minutes a game. That leaves 20 minutes for the rest of the team. This works if Osby can play both W and PF. When OU is playing a large lineup you might see all three on the Court (Osby, Fitzgerald and Goff). When OU is playing smaller you have Clark, Osby and Fitzgerald (or Goff) on the Court.

If Newell gets 10 minutes a game and a backup pg (such as Guerro) gets 10 minutes, that is 200 minutes. OU would have Washington and Neal on the bench in case of foul trouble or someone just having a bad game.

I doubt Goff gets 30 minutes a game.

OU needs help in the paint. It is hard to win if you are always getting out rebounded. I am hoping Goff is a guy that merits 30 minutes (or starter minutes) in the paint.

I agree with this.

We are horrible at rebounding and we need somebody who can play post defense, because Fitz cannot.

Aaron McGhee did nothing at Cinncinatti and he turned out pretty good. So you can't always go by what they did at there previous school.

Agreed. Epe Udoh is another example. Started off slow at Michigan, then had a great season at Baylor last year.
