PG: Kendall Smith (6'3'' 190-Senior)
-Transfer from Cal State. Averaged 16.7 points and a league-high 4.8 assists per game in 2016-17. Was a top 100 recruit out of high school and All-Conference selection. Shoots 38% from the 3pt line.

SG: Jeffery Carroll (6'6'' 215-Senior)
-Second Team All Big 12 as a junior. Averaged 17.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a junior. Shot 44% from the 3pt line and 53% from the field.

SF: Davon Dillard (6'5'' 215-Junior)
-Averaged 6 points and 3 rebounds per game as a sophomore. Probably the best athlete in the Big 12, and one of the best athletes in the nation. Will get a much bigger role this year. Shot 48% from the 3pt line but only 27 attempts.

PF: Mitchell Solomon (6'9'' 245-Senior)
-Averaged 5.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as a junior.

C: Yankuba Sima (6'11'' 220-RS Junior)
-Transfer from St. Johns. Averaged 7.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game at St. Johns. Also averaged 2.5 blocks per game. Very good shot blocker and athlete.

Bench:
Lindy Waters (shooting guard)
Cameron McGriff (power forward)
Thomas Dziawaga (shooting guard)
Brandon Averette (point guard)
Lucas N'Guessan (center)
Zack Dawson (point guard)
Latravian Glover (forward)

They weren't all that good last year, and they'll be worse this year.

Sima isn't eligible until after the first semester. I would expect Waters to start at the 2 and Dillard/McGriff playing the 4 spot with Solomon at C. Unless Smith is way better than expected I would think they take a step back next year. Maybe not playing that crazy pressure defense that Underwood used to start 0-6 this year will help.

I think theyll be solid again. BU was actively recruiting Dillard and waters but I think they are both staying now.
Dillard flipped a little on twitter.

That looks like a very mature and experienced lineup, with good athleticism. How good will the coaching turn out to be? That is a big question, and only time will tell.

Lest we forget, OSU was in the NCAA Tournament. That ain't bad.

Phil Forte III finally departs. He did leave his name in the record books,

Forte Named NCAA Free Throw Percentage Statistical Champion

You left out 3 players:

FR PF Souleymane Diakite
SO PG Michael Weathers (Redshirting transfer from Miami OH)
JR G Tavarius Shine

That gives them 15 scholarships, 2 over the limit. Shine may be done because of career ending injuries but no official word yet. Maybe that is why you left him out. I am curious who the other one is.

They overachieved some last season but were about what I thought they'd be. I would expect a step back, even if Underwood had stayed. Do not like the coaching hire at all.

The Pokes have two or three nice pieces coming back from last year. Just ask yourself one question. What would their season have been without Jawun Evans, and Phil Forte for that matter?

Not saying OSU won't make the dance again. But anyone who thinks they'll be as good as last year, needs to give some serious thought to what Evans, Forte and Hammond meant to that team before making that claim.

Not sure why everyone thinks they will suck this year. Probably the same people who think a 9 win OU team will be top 3 in the Big 12. 1 player doesn't make that much difference. OSU has talent, the unknown is the coach. But they lost Evans and replaced him with a proven commodity. Just my opinion, I think they might be better than last year. Just like OU will, by default (can't be much worse).

1 player can make a huge difference. Evans is probably 6-7 wins difference.

Evans and Forte are THE reason Travis Ford is now coaching at Saint Louis......and, one could argue, one of the main reasons Brad Underwood will be coaching at Illinois.

O-State won the close games last year, and we were the bed-****tingest OU team there ever was. We weren't that far apart, and I believe our two games showed that.

But they replace 3 with Evans, Forte, and Hammonds. Just like this past season we replaced Buddy, Isaiah, and Ryan. Losing 3 big time contributors AND the head coach is what is going to hurt osu, just like us losing 3 big time contributors and 2 assistant coaches this past season.

Because we should have beaten them twice last year and we sucked. And they lose their best players and their coach. They only had 4 wins against tournament teams last year. They weren't very good, and they lose most of their assists and about 40% of their scoring. And their biggest addition is a transfer from Cal State Northridge. I don't see any way they approach .500 in conference.

I think people are overrating the loss of Forte. Other than being a bomber and money from the FT line he really didn't add that much. Not quick enough to beat guys off the dribble and create shots, easily bothered by defenders with length, was average at best on defense.

Agreed... Going with their current guards they are bigger and more athletic than they were last year. Losing Evans is big because he is a great player, but he was small and a liability. Forte was a major liability.

They should be better defensively with this group and I still see plenty of PPG out there.

Evans was a liability?

Forte allowed their other players to play 4on4

Honestly, who in the conference will be worse? Texas Tech? Maybe, but doubtful. Iowa St loses a ton but I don't see them at the bottom. KU, West Va, Baylor, OU, UT, TCU will all pretty clearly be better. KSU...I doubt it. Good chance the Cowboys are 10th next season.
