Now if the Aggies win today, i may finally jump on board. Maryland has three players averaging 15 + , don't know many teams who can say that (if any).

Aside from Ford, OSU's bench is their biggest problem. They're essentially a four deep team, with a supporting cast that struggles to score. Even former Poke Brandon Manzer called attention to it today.

One of their starters, Jeffry Carroll, failed to score a single point or get a rebound. All but 10 of their points came from Forte, Cobbins, Nash and Hickey. The bench players accounted for a total of 10 points; Newberry had 8 and Hammonds had 2. If one of their top four players gets in foul trouble or is having an off night, as Forte did today, the Pokes will be in trouble.

Having said that, Maryland is good, real good. Mark Turgeon was known more as a defensive coach when he was at ATM. But I was impressed with the way the Terps spread the floor on offense. They have several players who can shoot it, too.

I disagree with their bench. I think it's decent. They have several to choose from. It's their offense. All they do is shoot 3's. Or Nash goes one on one. They run no post plays for their true post players. It's the worst offense I've ever seen.

I wouldn't call a bench with the top player averaging a little more than 5 points a game and the rest averaging no more than 3 ppg "decent."

I think you're right that the offense Travis runs is a big part of the problem. But it's not like he's not giving his players plenty of opportunities to prove their worth. Eleven players on that team are averaging 11 minutes plus per game. That's more than enough time to show what they can do.

I said a couple of weeks ago that Ford may be substituting too much. He should know what to expect from everyone on the roster by now. I think he would be wise to go with his best 8 or 9players and live with his decision. Trying to parcel out limited minutes to a dozen players may be making matters worse. We'll see how that works out for him when the conference portion of their season gets underway.

It's one on one bball. It's 3 point shots for most of them, Nash doing his thing, or put backs. You can look at their ppg and say its a terrible bench but Solomon and Allen come in and they will only score on put backs or a miss assignment on the defense. 90% of Cobbins points are dunks. Their bench comes in and shoots 0-6 on 3's. Hickey shot 11 3 pointers. And they shoot bad 3's. Early in the shot clock, contested and usually one on one and not coming off of a screen.

As long as ford is their coach, the pokes are a non factor.
