OSU women's hoops coach, assistant killed in plane crash

Statement from Oklahoma women’s basketball head coach Sherri Coale on Oklahoma State tragedy:

"I am devastated by the tragic news of the deaths of Kurt and Miranda. Kurt was a fantastic basketball coach and he was a tremendous competitor. More importantly, though, he was a devoted father and husband, and a humble but courageous leader of young people.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to Kurt’s wife, Shelley, and their children, and to Miranda’s family, and the families of the other victims as well. Additionally, we are praying for the entire Oklahoma State women’s basketball family.”

My sister and her friend (both were getting recruited by Oklahoma State) went to the ceremonies today, said it was done very nicely.

They had started the recruiting process on my sister a couple months back, but had kept in touch with my sister's friend Jessica Washington (arguably top junior in Oklahoma) since her 8th grade year. She always had the nicest things to say about both coaches, as she grew very close to them.

Sherri Coale was classy enough to express her condolences to Jessica. She has been after her for awhile, but knew she was shaken up by this tragedy and contacted her regardless of vying for her basketball abilities. Hopefully OSU can rally and have a good season for the coaches.

I read that the fools from Westboro Baptist Church had threatened to picket the service. Did they show up?

I read somewhere (can't remember where!) that someone that had a radio show offered them 5 minutes on his show in exchange for showing up to the funeral. Not sure how that turned out!

the sad thing about those fools is that no matter what society does, they will actually percieve themselves as adding value. They are truly misguided, dispicable people.

Pretty much what tycat said... They didn't physically show up to the service. Instead they were supposedly offered a small segment on the radio instead.
