I don't know what is more embarrassing for them - the grey uniforms, Jurick's color tats or the 4/5s empty arena.

Bring the rowdy back! lol

the reason why the stadium is half empty is that everyone is hook on OSU Football

OU fans talking basketball attendance smack....irony for the ages right there. OU has defined lack of hoops interest for years, even before you were having back to back under .500 seasons and missing the entire post-season 3 out of 5 years. (BTW, how is going under .500 overall in CBB even possible?)

OSU's attendance will not be what it used to be but it will be better than OU's, like it has been on average for many years.

Oh kind aggie, how quickly we forget...

This is what I have heard for the last 15 years (but not the last 5 because your attendance has been so ridiculous that the vast majority of your fans have been mute about it and because you had to stop listing "actual" attendance in your box scores due to putrid turnouts):

- OSU is the rowdiest arena in the country
- OSU is a true basketball school that should be mentioned with the blue bloods
- OSU would never offer incentives to get students to come their games like OU
- OSU would never lower ticket prices or offer package deals (tshirts, hot dogs etc) to get folks to come to their games like OU

Now I just sit there and laugh. I never said that OU draws well in attendance. We don't. But I also don't pretend like we have some outstanding basketball fanbase. You guys had a nice little run in the 90's on into the 2000s, but the majority of your basketball fan attendance has been piss poor sans the glory days of Iba. Don't act like you have always been there like Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas, North Carolina, or Indiana.

We are all learning the real truth - the only reason you cared about basketball was because your football program couldn't come close to big brother.

Check the butts in the seats attendance between OU and OSU during Capel and Ford's tenure. We got ya beat bud (don't give me paid because GIA holds more folks).

Hopefully Kruger can build OU back up because Capel had it going with the students and non students until Gallongate.

Good day, kind ag.

Is this a comment on his tattoos specifically or color tattoos in general?

haha both. If you haven't seen them, they give Nick Thompson's a run for their money. Dude looks like a trashier Jason "big dady" Keep (which I didn't know was possible).

Not that any of that matters as the guy would look just fine rebounding and blocking shots for Coach Kruger. :)

Bigtime is right, GIA. OU fans have never boasted about the crowds we get at the LNC. That definitely has not been the case with OSU fans. Poke have fans bragged for years about packing the house for every game. Even when it was obvious there were plenty of empty seats in the old GIA, diehard Poke fans were in denial.

Sure hard to explain away all of those empty seats now, though, isn't it?

OSUJeff97 will think of something.

Nick Thompson had tattoos? Maybe I never noticed them because he never took his warmups off. WTF was Capel thinking with him, anyway? That's a real question... he was clearly not a Big 12 player.

I don't have a problem with color tattoos (no more or less trashy than tattoos without color). I haven't seen enough of Jurick's to really make a judgment, but from the few pictures I have seen it looks like color isn't really the problem...

Grey jerseys are awesome. Student attendance was good tonight, which is the most important. The old fogies will come back when/if the wins do.

HoHum, tell GIA about how Poke fans used to brag about attendance. You weren't among them, but I know you remember it well.

Sadly, attendance is down everywhere. Even the big boys struggle to put butts in seats for the lesser games.

By the way, don't bad mouth old people. We have ways of finding out where you live, you know. lol

The biggest problem/excuse for tonight is that you had to buy a separate ticket for this and the next game as they are part of the pre-season NIT not regular season tickets. I don't think many that live outside of Stillwater are going to pony up more dough (after already paying a hefty chunk for season tickets) to see Arkansas PB especially on a Tuesday night.

The larger problems with OSU's attendance:

Disenchantment after the Sutton name was twice forcibly exited from OSU basketball. Once for being an embarrassment and the second for being a terrible coach and turns out addict.

Relative football success. ou fans understand this phenomenon well.

Only two NCAA tournament appearances in 5 years with an NIT last year. I know I just can't get truly excited about an NIT game. This is the obvious determinant wins put butts in seats.

GIA expansion: before the expansion it was crowded, difficult to get into and if you were anywhere but the floor level seats you felt like you could touch the ceiling. Getting tickets was an exclusive event. With the expansion the market was over-saturated while still attempting to charge top dollar. After the new wore off and the wins halted and the allure took a nose dive.

Ticket price management: The debt incurred from expansion was passed on to the consumers, which was tolerable until the previously mentioned problems (mainly wins or lack there of) occurred. There were many customer service issues as well. People feeling they were getting screwed out of better seating despite years of loyal patronage. The main problem was the administration treated basketball season ticket holders as an endless supply of eager fans willing to pay premium price for any seat in the house and if somebody didn't like it they would just sell the tickets to the next eager fan in line.

I'll give you the two years Capel had Blake, so that gives you what? Two years out of the past 20 or so? :clap I hope Capel mailed BG a decent percentage of his income there in the end.

I'm sure the LNC attendance in that down to the wire barn burner against mighty Idado State just dwarfed OSU's game tonight. The difference between the two is even when OU is good the LNC is apathetic except for a few games. When both are top level, the attendance is lopsided in favor OSU.

CBB is a lot more enjoyable when both in-state schools are good and highly ranked. I wish it would get back to that way.

Who gives a sh*t about OSU's attendance? I don't. I don't come here to read dissertations about the state of OSU basketball.

So you're saying you guys are as dumb as Penn State fans, then?

Sorry bro.

oshoe,

Some good points.

Stout,

I agree with your last sentence.

But, really. Grey jerseys are awesome.

Hohum always brings the damage control in my anti-osu threads. Predictable yet somehow I still think he's an alright guy. :clap

You would be a helluva PR guy, hum.
