*****OU-Alabama Pregame Notes/Game Thread*****

I really thought Woodard played great down the stretch. When he gets more game experience under his belt, he is really going to be a tremendous player.

It was nice how he had the confidence to take the ball to the hoop towards the end of the game when most would have tried to run the clock down.

I was impressed. It seemed that everyone who played did something good. We aren't dependent on one or two players.

That's the difference in a confident point guard with the ball in his hands than two guard tying to play the one.

Woodard is good now. Think about how good he'll be as a junior and senior?

Spangler is a hoss. Is Bennett just not in game shape yet? Really thought we should have gotten him back in to get Spangler a rest down the stretch.

Is Bennett the player who had an injury recently? Ligament in his foot?

Good point, Syb! Bennett, Neal and Booker did some really nice things. They certainly didn't hurt the team while they were on the floor.

Where is Alabama projected to finish in the SEC?

That says 6th. That is a pretty solid win for the opening game. The 6th place SEC team should be in the Tournament.

Alabama will probably do better than 6th. Grant is a very good coach. He replaced Capel at VCU and took the team to the NCAA where they played well.

We probably beat a NCAA tournament team tonight. Good start and a great comeback. And we should expect better from Woodard,Hornbeak and Bennett as the season goes on.

Releford and the other Bama guard played like they thought the emphasis on actually calling fouls didn't apply to them.

What an incredibly awesome way to come home from work. Catching the guys putting the finishing touches on a 16 point rally. I heart this team.

A quick perusal of Bama's roster and their Rivals rankings,
that roster is loaded with 4 star kids and 3 star kids.
That's a talented roster especially inside.

It wasn't so long ago that an athletic team like Alabama would have dominated us all over the court.

When we were down early I had flashbacks. I half expected us to fold. I guess I forgot who are coach was.

They finished third in the SEC last year and didn't make the tournament, so I think it's probably unlikely their sixth place team makes it this year.
That said, I have no idea how good Alabama is or isn't at this point, or where the heck they'll finish in their conference.

I'm just glad to have gotten that W. It was not looking very good at 26-10. I thought we were in for a loooong season. Team fought hard and played really well after that start.

I think the defense was overcompensating to the new rules a bit which led to some blow-bys. We should get that cleaned up after a few games.

These types of games are separation games when the selection committee is looking at bids at the end of the year. Really good win to have under our belt.

I was impressed by Woodard. If he can hit some of those contested lay ups, he will be a menace to Big 12 teams for a long time.
