OU at TCU

Congrats!

97-81? Did anyone play any defense in that game or did they just see who could run up and down the court the fastest? :D
The combined score of Tech and Texas was 99.
(Of course someone might ask if we had any offense, and the answer would be "no" :( )

I just love the toughness and chemistry of this team. Sherri has so many options. So good to see how well KayKay can play when she isnt in foul trouble. They had no answer for her. Never ever thought they would be in this position when I saw them in December. Great job by all!

Overall I would say that was Gabbi's and Kaylon's best game. I would add Gioya too.

There was a lot of scoring, no doubt about that!

T'Ona only had two minutes: 2 rebounds, a layup, two assists, and 3 turnovers in two minutes.

Kornet had a foul and two turnovers in what ESPN has listed as zero minutes.

LaNesia was one of three with a foul in two minutes.

All three got limited time, probably because mistakes cost points against TCU.

I'm not sure.....but I think some of the girls come in thinking "the more points I score, the more minutes I'll get".....jmo.

I read the box score wrong on the minutes. I think it was about Korny-2, T'Ona-7, LaNesia-3.

I do think that now that Sherri has her team more defined, its a lot about mistakes. Make them, and you sit.

We used a man to man defense the entire second half. While TCU did shoot a good percentage, they got a lot fewer attempts allowing us to cruise to win.

Points in the paint-OU 46,TCU 18.
Points off turnovers-OU 26,TCU 17.
2nd chance points-OU 13,TCU 4.
Fast break points-OU 14,TCU 14.
Bench points-OU 19,TCU 5.

I'll keep my comments short...

I am thrilled. I've been waiting for this for a long long time.

I haven't seen an OU squad playing this well in about three or four years. I can't even remember the last time this team looked this confident, hard-charging, determined and just playing well on just about every front.

I also think Sherri and the staff are doing their best coaching they've done in a month of blue moons.

What a turnaround.

IF this keeps up, Sherri actually could be in contention for her 5th Big 12 Coach of the Year.

I feel sad a bit for Kornet, though, she can't get on the floor and when she does, she plays horribly.

The 10 deep Sherri is using are the 10 best on the team. Depth is certainly a blessing.

Go Sooners! Beat the Cowpukes on Monday.

I think Kornet is pressing, trying to be like the rest of the team now that it is hot. She needs to relax and let it come to her. She can be valuable.

It does look like Maddie has joined the list of six who get starter minutes. It helped give Gabbi some rest as Maddie played 27 to Gabbi's 29. Sharane was at 22 with foul trouble.

It sure felt like Vivi got more than 8 minutes. She was 3 of 3 from the field. She had 3 rebounds, one turnover, and a cool head for a rookie.

With OU taking a 16-7 lead, they took a time out. The commentator remarked that OU fans were happy. The camera focused on a group of about ten OU fans, none of whom were smiling.

During the introductions, he had said that TCU might take advantage of the huge crowd (or something to that effect). My highschool gym seated twice as many people as that rec center. I saw bigger crowds for an afternoon game between Foss and Canute girls, playing in the county tournament in the metropolis of Cordell.

I agree about the gym they played in......How can ever recruit anybody and show them....this is where we play? I have never seen so much improvement on a group of girls, because in conference play, we looked lost.....So I am in AWE of what Sherri, the coaching staff, and the girls have accomplished so far this season. Keep it up...YOU looked GREAT today!!!!

I don't think they recruit to the rec center. As I understand, the basketball home is Daniel Meyer Coliseum which is under a year-long renovation project. They are playing in the rec center while it is being renovated.

Thanks for the correction, syb. I've seen the Coliseum, and it's a lovely place to play hoops.

We play on Fox SW today at 1 for anyone interested.

Question to those of you who subscribe to SoonerSports and watch basketball and other Sooner athletic events: In order to watch SoonerSports (in addition to paying a subscription) does Fox Sports Southwest carry the events?
Because my cable company (local, doesn't even have cable boxes) does not carry FSSW in their lineup, so even if I wanted to subscribe, I think (suspect) that I would be unable to watch Sooner network events.

The cable company DOES carry FX1 and regular Fox programming, but not FSOK or FSSW...

Can anyone confirm the bolded portion above?

I subscribe to Soonersports. Before the new contract, they did televise a number of home games. Now, they don't. There are some other events that are televised, like softball, wrestling, etc. You have to look at the schedule for live events.

I had to subscribe to a special channel on DirectTV to get a channel which carries most basketball games live and multiple times as repeats. I also get the Kruger and Coale shows as well as the sports show from the restaurant once a week, which also has Kruger and Sherri. It is on FSSWSooner or something. When I subscribed to that channel, I got Showtime, Cinemax, AMC, HBO, and others which really are not worth it to me. I'll cancel after basketball season.

For not knowing how to break a press and not knowing what defense to run, that sure was an impressive road win. If we could get our coaching staff to actually coach these kids, we might be winning these games by 40.

Sherri did say on her TV show that the assistants rotate what they do. This year, DeCosta is in charge of defense.

Great game! It is sooooo wonderful to see Kay Kay come into her own and own the paint. This team is making my jaw drop about twice a week.

"Live on, university!"
