Ou @ bu

All of that eight straight came with what everyone in the women's sports media knows was an illegal recruiting class. I think it leaves with Sims.

You are loaded with excuses. If it were that illegal, don't you think the NCAA would have acted? Was an investigation opened?

These are the self-imposed penalties which the NCAA accepted:

Among the self-imposed penalties:

• Mulkey -- whose 2011-12 squad went 40-0 and won the NCAA title -- will be prohibited from recruiting off campus for the entire summer recruiting period (July 1-31).

• The women's basketball program lost two of its 15 scholarships in 2011-12.

• McKinney hasn't been allowed to make recruiting calls to prospective student-athletes since Jan. 1. The ban will be lifted on May 1.

I wasn't aware of the penalties so thanks for the info.

Griner gave this statement:

Griner said she had "made it clear to the NCAA staff and everyone else" that she had chosen Baylor early in the recruiting process.

It appears the NCAA accepted that statement to be true and that where Kim sat at the games had no affect on which team Griner signed with.

Kim Mulkey gets away with whatever she wants. She can criticize officials and get a slap on the wrist. She's always been this way. For whatever reason officials are intimidated by her. It's amazing what she gets away with.

Thanks for the info on the infractions. I had heard something like that but that clears up a lot.

Jim Boeheim (sp) did his best imitation of Mulkey's stripper act at Duke the other day. He got 2 Ts and was tossed. Did Mulkey even get a T in the Louisville game?

btw, can someone please tell me how Kim's daughter got her technical. I saw it in the box score and feel like i missed something really awesome :(

We were inbounding the ball and she touched it before we threw it.

No Mulkey didn't get so much as a warning. I was glad they lost to Louisville. Got out-coached.

My goodness Ms. I ask you for the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything, and you tell me the answer is 42.

What you were supposed to say was that threw an epic tantrum similar to the ones her mom has thrown for years...or at least that she snuck onto the court from the sideline bench, something mommy had also done for years.

That's it?! Might as well have said "42." :(:(:(:(

I missed the game. Did Leatherface even bother to shake hands with Sherri after the game? I also wouldn't be surprised if she even gave OU any respect when it was over.

Is Skeletor Leatherface? If so, yes she did and I could see her saying "good game" to everyone in the line and all. Also, according to postgame transcripts, she was complimentary of OU:

"People forget, Oklahoma was picked to win (the Big 12)" Mulkey said. "That team we played tonight is good. That team is good."

take it for what you will. she might have been nice, or she might have been in tourney-talk mode.

:D

Actually, I heard them say during the game that her personality was the exact opposite of her mother's so I figured that meant she was a really nice person! ;)

Yeah, I renamed Mulkey after seeing her photo in the game program I got at the OU-WVU game. She must not have been feeling well if she was nice to our folks.

Her comment "Oklahoma was picked to win the league..." is a punch in the stomach to Sherri. Twisting the knife is more accurate.

What would you expect her to say, "OU really isn't a very good team, I was disgusted that we played so poorly late and let them make a game of it..."

...Now that I think on it a bit, she probably WAS thinking along those lines, but coach-speak prevailed.

But I never read or heard anywhere that Odyssey Sims made a similar comment. Mulkey's being able to schmooze with Sims' parents very well could have been the turning point in her recruitment.
And it's fair to say that Odyssey Sims has been a recruit only slightly down on the totem pole from Griner.
