OU holds at #3 in AP Poll

TT is "ranked" 29th...so they are getting some respect. the ksu loss is just a head scratcher at this point. See what they do with ut tonight.

Oklahoma still riding the nice ranking due to Villanova being ranked #1? Just wondering what your thoughts are? Loses to KState and Tech, really look bad...

Tech is currently listed as an 8 seed. We lost to them by three on the road right after they beat two other top 25 teams in a row. Tech's RPI is now 22. Their strength of schedule is third in the nation. They are ranked 29th in the coaches poll and 30th in the AP.

That is not a bad loss.

OU's only "bad" loss was on the road at KSU, whose RPI is #72. Virginia, with whom we're tied for #3 in the AP and sits above in the coaches poll, has road losses to #52 RPI (Geo Washington), #70 (Ga Tech), #74 (FSU) and #115 (Va Tech). And even KSU was not a terrible loss (not good, but not terrible). For pete's sake, KU lost at #150 oswho by 19 points!

OU has its nice ranking because we have earned it, period.

Here's someone who apparently knows nothing about basketball.

When OU football fans who never support basketball try to come over here...:facepalm

The Big XII has wins against Villanova, Iowa and UNC. It is very strong this year. I just hope it holds up in the tournament.

If you look at other teams getting votes, Tech is in the top 30. I think 7 teams will make the NCAA Tournament this year. What I would love to see is 7 teams playing in the second round. That would be impressive.

Texas Tech is currently RPI 24 and K-State is currently RPI 65. With the possible exception of Villanova (who OU destroyed on a neutral floor), everyone in the top 15 has losses at least that bad, if not much, much worse:

-KU got run out of the gym @ OSU (RPI 148)
-Oregon lost at Boise State (98), Stanford (76) and to UNLV (130) on a neutral floor.
-Virginia lost @ George Washington (50), Georgia Tech (70), Florida State (71), and Virginia Tech (110).
-Xavier lost to Georgetown (92) at home, and @ Creighton (83).
-UNC lost at Northern Iowa (109);
-Maryland lost at Michigan (54) and Minnesota (217);
-Miami lost at Clemson (99) and NC State (93), and to Northeastern (124) at home.
-Utah lost at Stanford (76);
-Duke lost at Clemson (99) and to Syracuse (51) at home
-Kentucky lost @ UCLA (67), Ohio State (74), LSU (87), Auburn (144), Tennessee (117).
-Iowa lost @ Penn State (106).

Looking at the bracketology, duke is a 4 seed in our region. If duke ends up being a 4 or 5 seed in our region and they get Jefferson back...that's basically getting an additional 1 or 2 seed in our region that we'll have to face in the sweet 16.

Why worry about stuff like this. Things will change and if OU plans on winning the tournament they have to beat good teams.

Sooner-Bred, I hope to be as cool as you one day! I have followed OU basketball for 30 plus years. Go be rude to you wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, or dog!

Good post.

Kansas should be the overall #1 seed right now. OU and Villanova should be 2a and 2b (you can make an argument for either one being the #2 overall seed).....and then a dropoff to Virginia, UNC, Xavier...all fighting for the last #1 seed. I'm confident that the committee would see it this way if they were seeding the tournament today.
