OU - Kansas Game Thread

I have to disagree with you on that. Kim does not even deserve to be on the same cruise ship with Sherri. There is much more to coaching than just wins and losses and championships. We want and cherish those but the K's antics are inexcusable - and cannot be condoned. Especially the foul language.

My comparison was limited to the two teams being down and losing games that they should have won easily. Vinny had just used our game as an excuse to run down Sherri, and I was pointing out that his hero Kim had just had the same problem.

Again Tango, you are one of the ones on this board that no one likes because of things like this, Mulkhead IS NOT my hero lol and I don't like her BUT, what those like you on this board cannot admit, she wins and coaches her butt off and recruits her butt off and HAS won a national title and IS running a top 5 program. Yes apparently she IS making around a million a year BUT she is delivering the goods. Sherri, although I like her and have supported our program AND have helped endow one of the scholarships, is NOT delivering the goods. I want our program to be more than what it is and don't mind paying for it BUT I don't want to pay 4 times more than what is being delivered, and that is what has been happening the last 4 or 5 years.

So again Tango and the other homers on this board, disagree with my opinions all you want but DON'T lie and change my words.

My comment on the Sherri Coale / Kim Mulkey comparison. I enjoy and support the type of program we have, the high class of players, and character of players and staff. I would be embarrassed by the antics of Kim M and the way her players mirror her on the court.
Winning loses some of its gloss when the empress has fangs

I don't have anything against the current Baylor players. Davis and Johnson could play for me anytime.

Davis has an annoying habit whenever she's fouled. She walks away shaking her head with a look on her face that says "not me, not me!". I bet she wouldn't have picked up that habit if she'd gone to Tennessee.

Mulkey is a phenomenal coach. Based on wins and losses one of the very best in the country. I've always thought that when she first took the job at Baylor she was the most prepared person ever to be a head coach. That said, if I had a daughter who was a very good high school player, I would not let her go to Baylor. And if I was a Baylor fan, I would be very tired of always having to either defend her or apologize for her.

Vinny, a lot of people like me. You wouldn't believe what a popular guy I am. I haven't however, seen anyone on this board supporting you.

I find it more difficult to "like" a player who would play for Mulkey. Basically, Mulkey seems to stand for everything that sports is supposed to be against. She has no concept of fair play and seeks unfair or illegal advantages at every opportunity. The NCAA, forever the cowards, did not see fit to challenge her story on the recruiting of her powerhouse, as though her very fortunate "exception" to the rule about conversations with recruits' parents had any merit whatsoever. It really should have resulted in a probation as long as any of those players was at Baylor, and it should have resulted in severe penalties and censure for Mulkey.

I get the impression that Mulkey recruits on a "it's us against the world" mentality at Baylor. She seems to recruit players who often have a chip on their shoulder, or have some reason to fear that they won't be accepted elsewhere. Then, they find that she is the least accepting of all.

If college sports is about learning to hate in order to win, Mulkey is a good coach. It if rises above that at all, Mulkey is not someone that you should want to play for. If you want to win at all costs, at least go to UConn where it is done fairly by learning the game intently rather than learning to cheat. Kim has always taught what you can get away with as opposed to how you should play. As a result, her players seem to be all about what you can get away with, and little about character. Too bad. They might have been very fine young women had they never met Mulkey.

Tango Tango is right on the money. We played well enough defensively to win this game. We shut down Gardner in the second half, our inability to hit a shot or make layups was our down fall. Second half rebounding lacked a lot to be desired. Shooting 8 percent from behind the arc at home is unforgivable, time to move on get ready for OSU and the Big XII. We didn't exactly help ourselves for the first rounds of the NCAA's, but it will depend on how we perform this coming week.

Speaking of the NCAA's, Charlie Creme's latest bracketology musings include 7 Big 12 teams in the Big Dance. This is the same Charlie Creme that was very derogatory toward the conference for their poor non-conference scheduling, noting that the only quality non-conference schedules belonged to OU and KU.

But the conference that has held the top spot in the NCAA's conference RPI ratings for a long time apparently is likely to have several more teams in The Dance than the 2-3 that Creme speculated would come from the Big 12 late last year.

The seven he has in the tourney are of course OU and Baylor, OSU, Iowa State, TCU, Texas, and West Virginia. I'm pretty skeptical about WVU, because they are 7-10 in the Big 12 and play their last game on the road. No team that has finished more than two games below .500 in conference play has even been invited to The Dance.

But, only one of the top sixteen is from the conference.

I don't mind seeing a player shake their head as much as I do floppers. To me, that is a terrible habit to develop.

If we beat OSU in Stillwater and win the conference tourney, I'll guarantee you that we'll be in the top 16.

Mark my words. There are too many teams ranked ahead of OU that played absolutely dreadful non-conference schedules, and played in conferences with an abundance of crummy teams. The selection committee is a lot smarter than the voters, and the false trumpets of sports providers who think they know more than what they know.

HAHA, Now you really make me laugh. "a lot of people like me" WOW you live your life through a WEBSITE ?????? You really gotta get a life buddy. Yeah, all the suck ups on this board -most of which you have probably never met- always lovie dovie on all the other suck ups. If that makes you happy then power on brother hahahaha. That post makes me laugh more than any I have EVER seen.

And by the way, there are probably tons of Watchers on this board who feel the same way I do but they won't post it because sucker uppers like you ALWAYS attack them.

So glad so many "people" hahaha like you :ez-roll: (by the way, I post my opinions and the only people I care about liking me are my family - you should get some council)

Totally agree!

That whole team reacts (shaking head or throwing hands up) when they commit a foul. And where do you think they've learned that? Look right on the sideline at their head coach reacting the exact same way!

I just finished watching the Kansas game again, and I have to tell you that we lost this one with horrible offense.

We had only 25 at halftime, then did not score the first 4 minutes of the 2nd half. We finally got past that and actually scored 20 over the next 12 minutes, but the hole was just too deep by then.

Those long, long streaks without scoring have been our achilles heel this year. I wonder if there is anything that can be done to control that?

Pound the ball inside would help.
