QUICK PREVIEW
No. 18/18 Oklahoma (12-5, 3-2) goes for its first win at No. 9/10 Kansas (14-3, 3-1) since 1993 when it plays inside Allen Fieldhouse on Monday at 8 p.m. CT. The Sooners, who are 4-4 away from home this season, are coming off a dominating 82-65 home win over No. 24/24 Oklahoma State on Saturday (led 41-20 at halftime). The Jayhawks, winners of all nine of their home games, lost an 86-81 decision at No. 11/13 Iowa State on Saturday.

ON THE AIR
Monday's game will air on the Sooner Radio Network (KRXO 107.7 FM "The Franchise" in Oklahoma City; KTBZ 1430 AM in Tulsa) with Toby Rowland and Mike Houck calling the action. Brent Musburger, Fran Fraschilla and Holly Rowe will announce the ESPN Big Monday telecast.

PREVIEWING KANSAS
Winner or co-winner of the Big 12 regular season title for each of the last 10 years, No. 9/10 Kansas is off to a 14-3 overall start and is 3-1 in Big 12 play (tied for second place). The Jayhawks' three losses this year have come vs. Kentucky (72-40 Nov. 18 in Chicago), at Temple (77-52 Dec. 22) and at Iowa State (86-81 Saturday). KU is averaging 71.5 points per game (ranks fifth in Big 12) on .432 field goal shooting (seventh), .389 3-point shooting (first) and .714 free throw shooting (third). It is holding opponents to 64.1 points per game (ranks ninth) on .409 field goal shooting (eighth) and .337 3-point shooting (eighth). The Jayhawks rank third in the Big 12 with their +7.4 average rebounding margin.

Sophomore guard Frank Mason and junior forward Perry Ellis both score in double figures on the year. Mason is averaging a team-high 12.9 points a game on .490 field goal and .471 3-point (24 for 51) shooting. He also averages a team-high 4.2 assists per game and leads the squad with his 24 steals. Mason is coming off a 21-point performance at Iowa State. Ellis averages 12.6 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds a contest. He is shooting .424 from the field and paces the team with his 84 free throw attempts (shooting .714). Sophomore guard Wayne Selden contributes 9.2 points a game while freshmen Cliff Alexander and Kelly Oubre average 8.1 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Bill Self is in his 12th year as Kansas' head coach and owns a 339-72 record there. He is in his 22nd year overall (546-177).

THE SERIES
Kansas is the only Big 12 program with a winning record against Oklahoma. The Jayhawks own a 141-65 series lead and have won 12 of the last 13 meetings after OU had won four of six. KU holds a 72-16 series record in Lawrence and has won the last 13 matchups there. OU's last win inside Allen Fieldhouse came in 1993 (80-77) when Billy Tubbs was head coach. Senior point guard Terry Evans went 6-for-10 from 3-point range and finished with a game-high 26 points. OU never trailed in the second half against the sixth-ranked Jayhawks. KU had won 20 straight Big Eight games prior to the defeat.

I either didn't realize or had forgotten that Kelvin's Sooners never beat KU at Allen. That's amazing, especially when you consider that OU was good enough to have won at least a couple of those games.

But, hey, like another poster stated previously, when you play Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse, you're usually playing 5-on-8. Hopefully, this is our year to get them.

Re: ***********OU-Kansas Gameday Thread************

OU wasn't even that good in 93. It was an NIT year with a 20-12 final record and 7-7 in the Big 8. I really hope OU can win tonight.

On the last win in Lawrence in 1993. For some reason the game wasn't on cable, or it was and we didn't have it at the time, and I remember having to go to the local Cox Cable store and getting a special box to take home so that I could watch it on pay-per-view. Or something like that. Now you can watch the dang thing on your cell phone.

I was there in, I believe, 2006 when we blew a 20 pt. second half lead to lose by a couple. My buddy said "Man, I kind of wanted to hear this place rocking" about the time KU went on a 21-0 run. He got his wish. The loudest building I've ever been in.

I was a teenager the last time they won in Lawrence..this needs to happen

That was one of the most demoralizing OU losses ever. I seem to remember poor Bookout with numerous airballs on layups. Those damn beakers.

Link to the disaster

If we can win this one, we are right back in the thick of things for the conference title. Lose this one and it seems like a long shot. I've been to the last 5 games at KU......loses. I'm not going tonight due to a prior engagement. Hopefully my not being there will push us over the top this year. :OUbball-logo:

I don't recall which channel it was on or if I watched on a local KC-area channel. The thing I recall most was that Terry Evans was on fire. But I also remember the local TV sports guys here in KC laughing it up before the game started after Tubbs had closed a local practice/shoot-around to them the day of the game.

The 2006 game was definitely the most painful. We choked under our own mistakes and also against their 8-man press (or were their only 2 refs at the time?).

I don't like our chances tonight but not impossible. If it is close we have to make just about everything down the stretch and we never seem to be able to do that.

Would be nice get back the game we blew against K-State last week.

Will be hard to overcome the refs, though.

**If we win this one, I will never, ever speak of the Creighton, Washington, and KSU games--until we lose another one of those type of games haha**

Last year we won at KU an Evans was on campus....this is why the football team gave Terry Evans' son(Tay) a scholarship. Good vibes good karma. Our game!

Here's the video of that heart breaker. what I saw was the refs stuck the whistle up their ass whenever our bigs would try to do a put back. They were getting fouled constantly inside but because Kansas was down they did not wanna call it..

Against WV last Tuesday, I had a really bad feeling that things could go south. Having said that, I have the opposite feeling today. I really feel like we are going to play well up there and expect the game to go down to the wire. I think it's a good spot for us. And maybe we can even pull it off.

I'm with you on that. Had a bad feeling last week and this week I feel confident we will play pretty good. Still can't bring myself to think we are ever going to actually win at the Phog though! Just feels that no matter how well we play, something will happen for us not to win there.

What hurts is KU coming off a loss is not a team you want to play, especially in Kansas..
