Ou @ ksu

This is a critical game for OU.
Lose this one and things COULD go south. A win would be a solid boost of confidence.

If we come out lack-luster and shoot 30-35 percent from the field in the first half we will be in real trouble.

There are only so many comebacks in a team's season.

I don't know why I'm encouraged about this game. Kansas State tends to give us trouble, whether in Manhattan or Norman. But, despite their height, KS plays small. They have been outrebounded by about three per game, and they are outrebounded for offensive rebounds by two per game. We tend to outrebound our opponents by four per game. We also tend to get about two and a half more offensive rebounds than our opponents.

In the first game, we were mistake prone. We had 25 turnovers to their 16. But, we won by ten. I think a lot of those turnovers were on charges. Peyton only scored four. Maddie fouled out with only nine minutes and two points, but several "charges." Gioya had zero points. Somehow, I think Peyton, Maddie, and Gioya will come up with more than four points.

We also shot only 34.7% from the field, 28.6% from three. K-State shot over forty percent. But, Breanna can't hit free throws, which helps. They only shot 59.1% from the free throw line, which is only about five points below their average. Since we committed 23 fouls, that helped. Looking at the stats, it looks like we played a road game.

Kaylon was only 3 of 5 from the field, but 8 of 10 from the line. She had 14 points and 4 rebounds (and four fouls). Vivi helped with 4 of 7 from the field, 7 of 7 from the line for 15 points, 7 rebounds, and only two fouls. Even Edwards had four fouls. Wyatt and Ortiz kicked in with 11 and 10 points. It was a decent game for Treece who had six.

I think we can do better. But, we held Wesemann down to 8, and that may be difficult.

The interchanging of Kay Kay and Vivi seems to have provided at least one with a good game each night. Gioya has shown signs that she is ready to resume play. She looked good against TCU, and that is exactly what we have needed. With Peyton in a slump, someone had to step up. Maddie did the type of thing that Maddie can do against TCU. If she has that type of game, she can disrupt any offense, and get a few points on any defense. I expect T'Ona to be on the floor without four fouls.

K State has to catch us on a bad night to have a chance. I'm not sure that we will be that bad again with Gioya added to the mix.

Dadgum. Game is not in HD, only on that crappy KSU channel.

Little starts on the bench? I missed first 5 minutes.

What channel on Cox in OKC? Anyone know? I am just seeing OU/Texas men replay.

Just frusterating for me these lineups....

TT and Vivi probably deserve to start.

So she pulls Peyton?

I know Derica got out to a fast start but I think she has more shots than KK. Maddie. and Gioya combined..... So thats nice.

Why are you so fond of the continual traveling calls? They actually do not help us or provide any kind of offense.

I would really like to play someone who doesn't hit 75% of their threes.

Even tightly covered - it doesn't matter.

But Sherri causes lots of it. As soon as she sees a group being highly successful, she pulls them and puts in mostly subs. Strangest thing I have ever seen. Weird.

Part of the problem is we are having to play so many teams who are 60 - 70 percent shooting teams. I admit I have not seen KS much this time, but I had no idea they were one of the top shooting teams in the country. They seldom miss.

I am starting to get frustrated. We have the athletes and she lets them sit on the bench???

Put in TT. Maddie. Gioya. Vivi. who ever wants to play 2 and run them out of the damn Gym. Getting sick of it. Being the more athletic, and better defensive team can win you a lot more ball games, than putting in players who want to Jack up 30 foot 3's. This is not a recipe for success, That I know.

Sad cause we definitely have the talent.

But we continue to play our weakest defenders and expecting a different result... That is what is starting to frustrate me.
