it's done. so we make the best of it.

it answers a few questions about things like redshirting, PT, and raises others obviously.

glad it happens in his soph season and not his senior season. also opens up time for some others to shine.

Thanks for sharing that, coolm. I'm sure we all hate this for Kristian's sake, but he's a young guy and will be given the opportunity to make things right. And I believe he will do just that.

Well said, Coolm!

Time to move on with the players we've got now and hope Kristian truly will learn from this experience.

I am still just as excited about the season as I was 2 days ago before I heard all this.

If this means Manek starts at PF I will be excited to see how he does. He's certainly not shy on the floor and I am hoping the whole team picks up the slack (especially on D). It could end up being something we look back on and say "that ended up making us stronger" or "that made Trae decide to stay another season in hopes they will be at full strength all year".

It wont all be bad.

Agreed. Count me in!!!

I believe he will only miss 8 games:

Nebraska-Omaha
Ball State
The 3 games in Portland
North Texas
UTSA
@ USC

And he should be back for:
@ Wichita State
Northwestern State
Northwestern
All of conference play
@ Alabama

I don't understand how he could return to the team before the next semester starts...but if that is the case that is great news

The time frame fits. The WSU game is the 16th, one day after the second semester begins. The reports say he will be available, providing he earns his way back of course. Since he will not be able to practice with the team, there is no guarantee he'll play

I wonder if they have to enroll in intercession to practice after the last class of 1st semester ends? or can they just start practicing after enrollment for 2nd semester?

Good question. Maybe someone knows the answer.

a few football players were able to return to the team the day after the summer semester was over ..

My guess is that this punishment is for not doing well in spring. That would cover him through the last day of the fall semester (last day of finals). He should be eligible after that unless he doesn't pass his fall classes.

He doesn't have fall classes because he's not in school at OU or anywhere else that I know of. I just don't see how he becomes eligible in December if he isn't currently a student.

because his suspension has nothing to do with grades

if it is academic misconduct then he has a 1 semester suspension from OU and he can return the first day after the semester is over

I see, you're saying if he's not in school at all, it's as if he's just taking the semester off. But how does that jibe with "academic progress" the NCAA mandates for athletes to continue to be eligible? Seems like he'd have some catching up to do..

I understand the suspension has nothing to do with grades.

What if he comes back and plays against Wichita State or any of the games after Dec 15 and decides not to enroll in school for the spring semester? He would have played in several games without ever been in school for either semester. Nothing is binding for him to come back to OU.

This isn't like a transfer who is in school for the first semester and becomes eligible immediately after finals. That guy was enrolled in school and is a student. Doolittle isn't a student. If he had been suspended from the team but still a student like Joe Mixon was, it would be different, too. It's just my opininion that he will have to attend a day of class making him a student again before he can play or practice, and the first day of class is Jan 16th. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see how a non-student can play in games.

Freshmen football and basketball players can't participate in team activities until they attend the first day of summer school classes.

Note: I contradict myself because I don't think Polla ever attended class before arriving just before their international tour. I just don't know about Doolittle and when he can play again.

Can he enroll in an intersession class?
