With the fact that OU didn't use all of their 2017 ships as of yet imo possibly for a transfer which could still be possible lots of big time transfers still out there but unless they get a graduate transfer their bench might be shorter than normal next season
Ortiz
Maddie
VV
Nesi
Morgan
Penzo
EJ
Mulkey
Ana
Shaina
Mandy

Some of the kids listed might not even see playing time, OU could be in for a long season... looking at the roster you can see where Sherri continues to miss out on Small forward and Power Forward, both are going to continue to be areas of need for the next few classes...

Might be one of those seasons with Tennis and/or Soccer players suiting up if we have any injuries. We know Mannings history with knee injuries.

I think seeing that she played with Chennedy and never got much attention tells you something. Cater like most big time recruits has schools in her hs gym all season long. I think if you are Arkansas or OU and have some open roster spots you can take a chance on a long 6'1 athlete and see what happens. I think neighbors offers her more of an impact immediately they are down to very little and will prob sign one or more juco kids.

Well that was that... I wonder if she ever took a look at OU

I'm not sure. I wouldn't be surprised if Dungee didn't end up at Arkansas with their new coach. No inside information, just think it's a possibility.

OU might need to look at a JC player as well... didn't think about the point you made with Carter, but the few schools she looked at might not have been in need for a power forward also, I know if a kid doesn't play Summer/ Club ball it can hurt there recruiting...

NO JUNIOR COLLEGE PLAYERS WE NEED TOP-NOTCH PLAYERS, NOT FILL-INS AND AVERAGE OR BELOW PRACTICE PLAYERS.

If Sherri cannot make this happen, then she needs to retire or be fired.

All the chatter knocking Sherri Coale and her ability and desire to coach reminds me of the same stuff said about Barry Switzer in 81, 82 and 83, and about Tom Osborne for a lot of years in the 80's and early 90's. Teams and coaches have ups and downs, and some never recover from the downs.
I too think it is time for OU WBB to have an upswing and have an year or two of OVERacheiving, but the implication that a coach just doesn't care is laughable. Comfort zone maybe, losing or lost fire maybe, but some "fans" seem to think we have coaches that don't care.

+1, with emphasis

I think our coaches ALL care about the program, the results and the players.

I wish more fans did.

Whether they can do the job to the level it needs to be at is always an ongoing questions with all programs/coaches/players in every sport.

Right but Switzer put together back to back to back recruiting classes with Jamelle, Keith Jackson, Dante Jones, Boz, Troy Johnson, Darrell Reed, Ricky Dixon, Mark Hutson to name just a few. To quote the great Switzer it's the Jimmies and Joes not the Xs and Os.

Bob got side tracked not adjusting to recruiting and making some bad assistant hires, letting some assistants
get too sloppy/lazy. It showed on the field. And to Bob's credit despite all the tenure trends pointing in the opposite direction OU's had a great two year run on the field and in recruiting because Bob overhauled everything about the way OU recruits including his level of personal involvement. Bob's impact in recruiting is 100% different than 5 years ago.

Sherri's a great coach. She's been a great coach for 20+ years. She hasn't forgotten how to coach. But recruiting has changed and she's been extremely slow to react to the changes. She still does not have a twitter account. Of all the Sooner major teams WBB twitter has the least posts and buzz. Take a look at it compared to how active Sooner softball's official twitter is.
How the staff gotten stale in recruiting ?? Hard to say. Recruiting rankings results would say yes.
Does the staff need to fix Texas recruiting? Yes, or get California/West Coast recruiting going again.
Is Sherri paying enough attention to International recruiting? Seems to be becoming a bigger trend.

And the further distance from a big 12 title or a final four run is only going to make recruiting harder.

Excellent Post!

I think the game has changed a lot in the last 30 years.....

When Sherri was in high school, the best teams in each state were in the lowest classes. A and B class girls teams almost always had the best teams.

Then title 9 came along and the bigger schools started pushing girls basketball...and as that progressed, womens basketball started getting better athletes. I think Sherri has been a little slow to accept the idea that better athletes make better players....that better athletes can become great basketball players.

Social media has made recruiting a 12 month enterprise, sadly for coaches.
But it's not changing. Kids are more interconnected especially AAU teammates who are not
HS teammates. Players know where other players are going. Twitter is the source of almost
all recruiting news.
Sherri as the star of the program for legit reasons as a HOF coach needs to be the social
media face of the program.
Bob finally recognized that change 3 years when Saban/Harbaugh/Meyer were dominating recruiting.
Sherri needs to start "advertising" recruiting more. Get the Twitter graphics folks making slick edits for her visits/players she's interested in. Bob does it. So does Lon.

I think Sherri needs to find her Lincoln Riley to add an infusion of youth/new ideas into her coaching staff. JMHO.
