Recruiting

Did anyone get a chance to watch the practice tonight that was supposedly on TV? Any thoughts from those who did?

I never learn anything at these pre-season practice shows. They never show anyone actually doing anything. It's all about the two commentators and a visit with the coach. Even when Sherri was miked, they didn't show the players she was talking to in the "game" that they were playing.

The only two things I learned:

1) Nydia is the second fastest player on the team, second to Shaina.
2) Shaina is the #2 three-point shooter in practice, behind Taylor.

A big girl who is that fast could be interesting. Shaina with a shot? Really? She becomes deadly.

I don't know why they just show Sherri. You can hear her without showing her and I want to see the players working.

I don't think all of this hiding the players helps OU.

I don't really watch to see and hear Sherri and Jessica. I want to see the action on the court.

If Shaina has a deadly outside game I say she can me all American caliber. Robinson improved immensely after her first season, and I would compare to two players, so cannot wait to see how much better she is this year. That along with an improved Llanusa, and hopefully a fantastic Williams and Lampkin could make for a really exciting season! Fingers crossed here!

I don't have a good feeling about our chances. Oregon State has a ton of height that would allow her to play away from the rim like she wants. I hope I am wrong.

Per Twitter, Kennedy Brown has committed to Oregon State. Dang.

That really sucks. Maybe Chloe Bloom will be the answer. OU needs to go after and get a few bigs in 2020. Maybe that's what scared Kennedy Brown. No size. She would have to play the 5 at OU. In my opinion, OU would have been her best destination for playing time and success.

It really sucks. Hopefully we have a surprise commitment before signing day. We really need size next year.

The recruiting class is still a very good class...Bloom is a wild card as there isn’t much info on her. The class just isn’t the for sure great class it would have been with Brown.

She will be on a team that is:
6-9 Sr
6-9 Fr
6-7 Fr

across the front line. Got some height.

Brown picked OSU, because she was told she can play with 3.

Wasn't that the real issue with Mulkey as well? She wanted to play wing, at 6'9"?!

I’m not sure, I guess kids want to shoot the ball, and waiting for a guard to throw it in means less touches, most big kids want to handle the ball in the open court, be listed at forward and stuff like that... it’s funny because the 6’9 player OSU signed last class also wants to play on the wing...

Yet, the person that everyone wants is the banger who will go to the boards.

I think Baylor has had a couple that didn't want to play tough and transferred. They are now strong inside. We watched Texas with a 6-4 post who really didn't like to be under the rim. With all of the size in the Big Twelve, the leading rebounder for a two-year stretch was Johnson of Iowa State who was 5-10. Baylor had a 5-11 star rebounder.

I am not on Coale. She has had 2 great recruiting classes. Just sad that a 5 can't see the potential at OU for playing time as a freshman. Not knowing much about Bloom? She might be the answer. Not sure who the big's are for 2020. C Clark committed to Stanford.

I've seen Bloom listed from 6-2 to 6-5. I really hope it's closer to 6-5

I'll say from the footage I've seen of Bloom, compared to everyone else on court, she looked to be more around 6'2" range to me. She's a thicker girl so I'm sure she's got some strength to play down low, but she wasn't towering over everyone by any means. Hope I'm wrong.
