Here's hoping for a good game turned in by the Sooners!!!!!

:woot

16-8 Texas

Ana needs to look for her shot.....passed up a 3 attempt.

Texas extending their defense on Gabbi.....she won't get many looks for 3s tonight.

Texas has better athletes so far....

Under five minutes left in the first.

Ugh!!!! UT 26- 13 OU at the end of the first quarter.

Texas has a better bench.....this could get really ugly.

Looks like a long season......

SC is essentially playing with seven players.....EJ got no time on the floor; Shaina has two minutes. I don't understand the reasoning.......What a mess!

Oh yeah, score is UT 41- 24 OU at the half.

Texas has better athletes....taller and faster. Gabbi has got one three pointer off in the first half...air ball. She can't get open. Only other shooters we have are Maddie and Ana. Not hitting in the first half.

Total mess, gonna take a lot of changes to get up where we all want.

Texas is a tier I program nationally, OU has sunk to tier II in the conference. At least they played hard. Texas players are quick, athletic, and fast. And they have a deeeep bench. OU players are unathletic, slow, and only about 7 of them belong on a D1 team. At least they played hard.

When you only hit 61% of your free throws, you are not going to win many games.

Agreed. SC said that they would have won by 1 if they'd hit the 11 free throws they missed....as if! I wish she'd stop making excuses and just get off her arse and recruit, and hire some better assistants if she doesn't have the time to do so herself. Looking at the caliber players UT has vs us is just said. Thank god for our freshmen this year, they are the ONLY reason we were in it at the end. One of our three big seniors showed up, as usual. Our four year players are the unpredictable ones, that says a lot about the program when your seasoned players are your most unreliable and inconsistent!

I see us having a losing season and not making it to ncaa tourney this year. If we make it, it will only be out of respect for SC. I just hope Ana and Shaina stay and tough it out until at least next season when we have some better players come in to help (Williams, Veitenheimer and Lampkin).

P.S. There is NO way that Ortiz is 5'9"!! Shaina is supposed to be one inch shorter than her and she is clearly a couple if not three inches taller!

This game could've ended a lot worse. We fought hard. Our best two players were Ana and Shaina. I think the 18 class will help them be a better team. More athletic. Also, I've heard we have gotten a commitment from a 6'6 center from Brazil. I didn't get a name but the only player I found that matched that description was Stephanie Soares. The number 50 player in the 18 class.

I think Sherri expressed what I saw. We began by not moving, unlike the last three games. We kept trying to feed Vivi, and Vivi wasn't making good decisions on whether to shoot or pass, nor was she really hitting. Gabbi wasn't working for her shot. Penzo tried a bit more than she should have, resulting in turnovers. I think Texas led about 10-2 before we took our second shot due to turnovers. We really never settled in. When we finally did have a bit of a comeback to bring it down to eight, it was really the "can you stop Shaina" show. They couldn't. But, Shaina couldn't hit free throws either. When she develops a bit of control and her concentration on free throws, she will be about as good as anyone around.

LaNesia has always liked playground basketball, I was surprised that Mandy showed up late. Maddie couldn't hit a shot. But, her defense and free throws helped. Five steals and a few other tips in which someone else got credit for the steal.

As badly as we played, 78-88 isn't bad. If we hit only six of seventeen from three, it is a standoff.

Texas played the most mature game that I can remember them playing against us. That was smart basketball.

Rbeam, sure it was not a juco center?? I think there's a top JUCO center who is Brazilian

Atlanta, thats possible. I know OU follows Stephanie Soares on twitter, so she was my first guess. Do you know the name of the Juco center?

It just seems we can’t put a complete game together in all aspects of the game. Missing 11 free throws? Are you kidding me? I only got to see the second half, but it was clear we dug ourselves a big hole in the beginning — like we have so often done. I just don’t understand why these girls cannot put it all together.

It is so frustrating as a long-time fan.

I know the team and coaches are frustrated, but at what point does it fall on the head coach’s head?

I know what it’s like, to a much lesser level, having coached girls at a club level at soccer (which is frankly far more competitive than HS soccer). Girls can drive you nuts when they just zone out sometimes.

And can you not do some
double screens for Gabbie that turns into a pick and roll or something? Better teams are going to smother her with their best defensive players from now until the season is over.

If Gabbi can’t get in double figures and Maddie has one of her infamous no-show offensively games, you can almost guarantee we’re going to get beat.

And I don’t understand how Vivi and Sherri cannot figure out that Vivi has to be moved to the free throw line and shoot some short jumpers or to drive from there to stop taller players from dominating her underneath the basket.

Just very frustrating.

I googled her and this is one link: https://www.lyndentribune.com/sport...cle_b45aa0d8-c6fa-11e6-a175-d73302b4c88e.html

I then googled to find out where Jessica was playing this year. She is in California at The Masters University which is a Christian School. I had not heard of it but, as a university, I saw some good quotes about it. Of course, that does not mean that Stephanie will go there. I am guessing Jessica was not as highly ranked as a player.

The various people who were revealing where prospects were headed seemed to be totally confused by Soares. I think her father was on a religious mission (for whom?) in Brazil. I think she was or is home-schooled. Although she is said to be an elite prospect with an unlimited upside, I haven't been able to find out where she has played, with the exception of Baker. There were a couple of places she was thought to be considering. I think one was Colorado. I had no idea that she was in a JC.

Welcome to the land of moral victories, where a ten point loss is considered "not bad"
The talent gulf between us and Texas( and other good teams) is enormous and an indictment of coach coale.
Lanesia showed sparks last night of what she could have been, too bad she never got to play much
At least 3 players on our 9 person roster have no business on a D1 team.
Gonna get worse before it gets better, if it does

I’ve been sayings since 2014 that Ortiz was about 5’3 and someone said no way a bio would stretch a height out that much... I think she’s about 5’5 at best...

ViVi does struggle a lot with players her size, I think Brown from Baylor could have 2 career games vs us.

When was the last time Sherri finished a year under 500?

Not suprised at all with the outcome. Texas looks like they are finally going to profit from the abundance of talent on the team. But even a spotty performance last night was more than enough to put us down.

Saddest thing to me was that Penzo was again victimized by superior athleticism and speed. Too bad because she is the most consistent player in terms of running the offense and team defense and plays with a lot of heart.

Gabbi is paying the price for not developing a short range jumper. She can drive into the middle to about 8-9 feet away with no problem but instead of taking a pull up jumper she always veers off or tries to force a layup. So she has to expect face guarding to keep her from shooting treys the rest of the season.

I will never understand Sherri's rotation plan. Two games ago Williams was not good enough to see the court, yet last night just as we were closing the gap out goes Ana and in comes Williams. And Pellington, who was getting few minutes in recent games comes in and gives Texas a few scary moments.

We cannot have Ana out of the game except for fouls or for brief rests. Yet she was out for 7 or 8 critical minutes last night. Ana has the best all-around offensive game on the team. She knows how to get open and is going to be able to reach double figures in almost every game and will get into the 20's when she is hitting from long range. And she is going to improve on the long range shots. She has too much touch to continue to miss as much as she does at this time. She is also a good rebounder.

Glad to see that Simpson is beginning to adjust to the speed of the Div I game. She may become productive but it is going to take time for her to do that consistently.

Playing Manning at center wasn't such a bad move, and allowed the team to get back in the game, Shay and Ana are not very good defenders so going with Williams who can get a stop wasn't a bad move, but you can't play cretain players together and expect us to score...

Penzo is a nice surprise this season, but when she only takes 4 shots, gets 2 assist and 5 turnovers, she's hurting the team more then helping...

When was the last time a Sherri Coale team had a losing record overall, and a losing record in conference?
