Yes, he did! The obvious out of bounds missed call already discussed, and a no call no one is talking about.

Higgins gave KU a time out at least one second after the count went to five on the third in bounds play in the final seconds. A stop there would have given OU the ball with a chance to win the game. The five second count begins when the official hands the ball to a player. If the count reaches five, which it did, it’s too late to call a time out.

I replayed it twice to make sure and there is no question Higgins failed to call the violation. Are those calls why we lost? Of course not. But, they sure didn’t help our cause.

The radio guys (who didn't have the benefit of replay, of course) were commenting on that. They didn't he blew it (again, hard to do without replay), but they both said it was thisclose to a five-second call. I guess it was even closer than that.

Much better game than the last one with TCU. Only 11 turnovers this time around, solid defense, but 4-17 from 3, and 12-18 from the FT line. Just need to shoot slightly better and we'll be fine.

Chargois is a really big piece to the team. Groves hasn't been there offensively and looks to be tiring out a bit (covid recovery plus extended workload), but is working his a** off on defense. Chargois provides a little bit of scoring as well, and that honestly might just be the difference the past two games.

That’s bull crap. He’s plenty good enough. He can’t play defense but you could say that about most guys in basketball, college or pro. His shots were rattling in and out. If he gets the shooters roll, we probably win by 10.

The refs blew a call and that sucks, but under no circumstance should OU be giving up a wide open 3 to the leading scorer in the Big 12.

Again with the fallacy argument. We were screwed by the refs on several calls but we shouldn’t give up that one shot. LOL.

I stand a little corrected after seeing this tweet. Really good counter by Bill Self, and Harkless definitely studied the scouting report thinking the lob was coming (good coaching on both ends). Tip your cap to Agbaji hitting the 3, but now even more annoying the refs got that call wrong.

Groves is better than Harkless, so if either isn’t good enough for this league, it’s the latter. Groves has had three tough offensive games but still provides value and I think he will adjust. Harkless is the guy who should be on the bench if we had a better alternative.

I had the advantage of “instant replay,” twice! I know how to make a five second count—did it thousands of times over the years when I called high school ball. The time out request came too late. Higgins should have ignored it and made the five second call. He didn’t, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it now.

I repeat. That not why we lost the game.

Actually Harkless gave up three open treys in the latter part of the game. Not a good game all-around for him. Also some bad passes. He was -21 in the +/- category in the box score.

Liked what I saw of Mawien.

Hill and Cortes have to get more agressive on offense.

Thanks for the plus/minus on Harkless, I was wondering about that. Sometime that stat doesn’t reflect how a guy played, but tonight it absolutely does. He was on the pine when we made our huge run, and gave up three of the biggest shots of the game on the defensive end.

During games after the end of the OU-KU game, the ESPN ticker said "KU outscored OU 12-6 in the final 3 minutes". I'm interested in what the ticker says because it very briefly and concisely gives you the points that you need to know to understand the cadence of the game. The awful Higgins out of bounds call came right around the 3 minute mark. Yes, like sky said, we had enough time to overcome three points, but it was an absolutely massive moment in the game that completely swung the momentum pendulum in the other direction, and we never recovered.

Also -- in the last couple of games, Harkless looks like one of the basketball players in Space Jam who lost all of his basketball powers. This team desperately needs him to regain his confidence.

I thought Groves actually played solid defense last night. Made McCormack work for everything and held him in check. And I certainly don’t think it’s accurate to say that Agbaji struggles putting it on the floor. That bucket hurt but was probably only about the fifth most important shot they made down the stretch. Asking any big to close out on a great guard in that spot is tough.

Didn't love Moser's end of game calls.

Shouldn't have called the last timeout. You have to coach your team to get the ball after the made basket, throw it to half court, and call the timeout there. That way you can run a play to get an open 3 point look, and not just let KU foul you, essentially ending the game.

Same thing on the last play. Why are we throwing the ball in the way we did? You HAVE to throw it to at least halfcourt. Throw it to a streaking guard. Throw it to Groves and let him make a quick pass to a streaking guard. Literally anything but what we actually did. Disappointing end of game decisions from a coach that is regarded as a tactician.

That said, it was good to see the team keep fighting. There were a couple of times they probably could have laid down, but they didn't. Gotta figure something out on offense. I know we're not going to be a great scoring team this year, but we have to be better than we've been the last two games.

Have seen many players over the years get mid-season burn-out and need a week or two to get fresh legs and energy for the final run to the tournament. Tanners is at the point. He'll be back.

I like Tanner, but i'd like to see Moser try to recruit some bigs like Huggins gets over the years, at least by body type. Big, physical, push people around. Dictate. I know they're trying but Tanner looks like he's never lifted a weight in his life. It's embarrassing how small his arms and overall musculature is. He gives so much effort but is so physically limited..
