OU vs Central Arkansas 6pm 11/16

I wonder how soon before Chris Plank will be calling a Okie Cowboy game. :ez-laugh:

78-54 win. Thought we played very sluggishly tonight…not focused and low energy. We struggled shooting 3s and free throws. Better play better in the Bahamas…and we should get more excited playing Oregon.

I usually don't listen to the audio. Both Plank and Toby would be guilty of what Sgt. Joe Friday from the TV program Dragnet would call a 901 (overacting).

I am most concerned about how we are getting beat up on inside. Hard to defensive rebound and unable to stop close in shots and we havn't faced a quality big yet. That ends with Oregon who have four bigs. Two (6-5 Sabally and 6-7 Prince) are quality and they have a good looking frosh 6-8 Kyei and 6-4 Watson from last years recruiting class.

Still working on offensive flow. We have to get Taylor more than four shots. Washington still making a lot of freshman mistakes but I think we are better offensively and defensivly with her instead of Tot.

Ana and Maddie carrying the load. Scott wasn't too bad last night. Svboda probably our best hope but she seems unable to really begin to shut down the inside game.

I wonder if Baranczyk and Moser compare notes. One strong offensively at least so at Drake and the other seemingly very strong with defenses.

Watched the last two games. Went live to the field trip game. My take on the team is basically this:

Going to be a good offensive team by the end of the year.

Going to be a decent to good rebounding team by the end of the year.

Going to struggle and be a poor to decent defensive team against good teams.

Think we look organized and play with effort. Play smarter is just about every way that we have played over the last few years.

Too many turnovers, but they are mostly due to poor execution and not poor or dumb ideas. Some but few judgment error turnovers. The dumb senseless turnovers are what has bothered me for years. BTW, if you don't have some turnovers you are not being aggressive enough. And, there will always be a few more turnovers in the girls game vs. the boys game.

Rotations make sense to me. Fundamentals look vastly improved over the past (blocking out, angles etc).

As for the players, Lampkin isn't improved she is a totally different and better player. Washington is making way too many freshman errors but I would be handling her exactly as this staff is doing. She will ultimately learn that fast doesn't mean being in a hurry. Her ceiling is high. Emma is a very sound and suprisingly athletic tall girl. Maddi is one of the top players in the country. Ana looks as good as she ever did. Wouldn't know she was ever injured or missed a year. Those two are our stars and Jennie is, in my view, correctly running the team through them. This has the effect of taking some of the heat off of TR, and she is now getting some good looks. She is one of the purest shooters I have ever seen. They go in or look they are every time. If she was a solid high D1 athlete, she would be so special. She does make the most out of what she has and tries hard. Vann is vastly improved as well.

Too early to tell what we will be when it is all over, but I am back on the bandwagon. I have left for a few years but enjoy watching the ladies play. Encourage everyone to try and get to a game live. They are worth a watch.

Great post, Cowboy.

I think we all think very similarly. Vann and her progress and role are really going to be interesting to watch. I think she, too, adds to take pressure of TR by her rebounding, driving and good scoring ability. She is just extremely tenacious and hard-charging.

I love having Anna back. What a stabalizing influence she is and her shooting, I think, seems to have improved, even beyond the arc, but I haven't verified that with the stats.

I love Emma from the little I've seen. Finally, we have a solid player inthe post, at least one that is a good amount better than the other two -- and I don't mean that to be ugly to Lampkin or Scott. Of those two -- Scott is better and might eventually be the best of the lot if she could stayb healthy and get somre real playing time.

It's going to be an even more interesting to watch what happens if Gabby can come back, although, from what I've read that seems somewhat unlikely to me. What she has gotent has forced her to go to several doctors to find someone who can treat her, according to reports. She can't breath basically when playing is my understanding. If true, imagine how horrible that would be.

I urge everyone to go to her OU twitter account and wish her well. I did.

Overall, although we are only a couple of games in, I like what I am seeing and where we are.

I'm excited and optomistic for the first time in over a decade. It's clear to me we finally have a complete, energetic, positive, demanding and talented coach at the helm.

Sherri was like that for a long time, but not the last decade.

Coach J and this team rocks right now as far as I'm concerned.

I think the biggest key to Scott contributing is to avoid fouls and acquire more minutes where she could contribute. If she could close to 20 minutes she likely would average 8-10 points and 7-8 boards per game. JMHO.
