#9 OU @ Wichita State 6pm 11/19

Ya, was really looking forward to going down… from Wichita, mom still there… sis played at ksu/wsu in the early 80’s… but work decided differently.

Especially since no longer in b12 so I won’t see them in kc.

A shame it didn’t work out for you…this team is very fun to watch.

48-34 at half. Wichita St plays pretty aggressively denial type defense and we were sloppy with the ball…12 turnovers…but when we worked our offense we got good shots and made most of them. 7-12 from 3 and 54% overall. We forced 11 turnovers from them and played solid not great defense. We can play better. Verhulst had 11, 8 for Beers and 7 for Lexy.

First road game. Had some rust and jitters looked like. Hopefully we tune it up and play better in Vegas.

79-49 final…still sloppy but an easy win. Better defense in the 2nd half.

Years ago, I watched TU (Nolan Richardson/Tubby Smith era) play WSU in Wichita many times. Wichita always did have some fine home cooking. I don't think I've ever seen Jennie as mad as she was at that official.

We were sitting behind the OU bench & I was watching her get into it with them several times. I told my wife that either Jennie has a way with refs or they know they screwed up because she did plenty to get T’d up if she was in the wrong. I don’t recall the last time she was that hot, if ever.

Its been a LONG time. Because she was VERY MAD. I also haven’t seen her get onto her team like she did in today’s game which was need because they played TERRIBLE. 24 turnovers is ridiculous and empty possession is uncalled for. Along with not playing good defense.

I was watching the game saw her get mad but announcers didn't say why. Anyone know the explanation?

Beers had been called for a moving screen and it appeared to me that Jennie believed that WSU had done similar type of screening. I think she was saying call it the same on both sides of the court. I think there also may have been some frustration for a couple of fouls called on Sahara where she was posting up strong and WSU fell in part because Sahara is a better athlete and that caused them to lose their balance.

Bob, I was also curious about that. Jennie looked really mad. Wonder what happened that sent her off.

As for the game, I thought we played pretty well mostly, but per the usual, we made way too many "silly" turnovers. There are turnovers that occur even though a player is exercising good judgment -- you will always have some of these and they don't bother me. Then, there are just silly mindless decisions that lead to turnovers. These types of turnovers make the women's game tough to watch sometimes. During Sherri's last few years, I had to quit watching the ladies we had so many mindless unnecessary turnovers. I thought towards the last half of last year, we really cut down on these types of plays. Watching Jennie, she clearly is dealing with these mistakes and so I would imagine we will improve this year like we did last year. IMO, this is the issue that could keep us from making a real run at a final four this year. If we can't get the girls to get their heads in the game a little more and make better decisions, we may waste the opportunity Beers and our overall roster gives us.

BTW, I thought Culliton looks substantially improved last night. She looked really good. I bet playing against Beers every day has really helped her up her game.

Agree w/ everything except the last sentence. I thought the defense & rebounding were solid. They shot 30% & OU outrebounded them by 22. I would however, attribute that last number partially to WSU deciding to get back on defense & shut down the OU break (box score said OU had 13 FB points) instead of crashing the boards, which they did do a good job of for the most part.
