OU vs KSU from the LNC 6pm ESPN2

K St is good. But I think we might be turning into that pumpkin as someone else suggested. Any time we get seriously D’d up we’re below average. Gonna happen a lot down the stretch.

K-state is very good. They lost games when stokes and wade were hurt. If they hadn’t gone down this team is 15-2 and ranked in the top 10.

They lost multiple games before either was hurt and they barely won two or three others against terrible competition. Weber talked them up coming into the season and they didn't come close to living up to the hype the first two months. Unfortunately I think they found their mojo when they pulled off the huge comeback against West Virginia last week. They played great tonight, much better offensively than they had to this point. Credit them for that. They'll definitely be in the mix for third place if they continue playing this way.

As for OU, the issues that we have largely been able to get away with definitely burned us tonight. Turnovers and free throws simply shouldn't be an issue for a veteran team with supposedly good guards. And if Muni can't get over the hump and start playing better, I think we'll return to the small lineup very soon. Reynolds hasn't played well lately, so maybe more stretches with JB at the point and Calixte off the ball are in order. RO was the one bright spot. Funny that his free throw shooting was about the only time he was mentioned on the board. As frustrating as that is, he was the only guy who showed up and kept us somewhat competitive for part of the game.

Rough night, obviously. The next two games become huge. Have to find a way to win at least one. Maybe getting on the road now isn't a bad thing, given the completely non-existent crowd support. I'm so sick of all the excuses OU "fans" come up with to rationalize a half empty arena.

The FT shooting will get attention, but we lose even if we shoot well from the line. We cannot beat good teams even at home when we can't shoot, we turn the ball over, we don't defend, and we routinely get beat to loose balls.

Also, agree 100% on McNeace. He's either got to start playing or he needs to sit. There's no point trying to get by with him or Freeman on the floor if they're going to keep playing the way they've been playing.

On the fans, though, the lack of enthusiasm is, IMO, 100% on the players. KSU came out and played hard from the get-go. They took it to our players who weren't ready to play. The fans never had a chance to get into the game and that's the players' fault.

So you mean they would be 15-2, and ranked in the top 10, exactly like I said. They lost on the road to a very good Marquette team and shot 30% in a fluky loss to Tulsa.

No, they wouldn't. The two noncon losses basically knocked them out of the top 25, and I think they probably would have lost at Tech even with Wade. Stokes played in that game, by the way. So even giving them one more win against Texas, that doesn't vault them from unranked to top 10. We've played a much better schedule and weren't sniffing the top 10.

They are a good team, I'm not debating that. But tonight was also by far their best game. Now it is up to OU to show they can bounce back from an awful game as well as KSU has.

But right or wrong, they started higher than we did.

OU has the weakest home court crowd every year. We’re all to blame. OU basketball fans are ****ing pathetic and only show up for 2-3 games every year.

The lack of support is yet another reason why OU basketball is second rate. No home court advantage and OU loses to freaking kstate.

OU would have lost to K state tonight has they played in Kruger’s living room.

That was a total team failure ....a complete lack of focus , unacceptable for a team with that many srs .
The FF % the first half tells you everything you need to know about how the mental prep
For this team .
Blaming fans for not showing up .....Heck the players THEMSELVES didn’t wnat to be there tonight .

I hate to say it but if this season tailspins like last year , it may time for a change .
Kruger’s loose system is way to dependent on high character guys who can push themselves and hold themselves accountable .....it’s too hard to be 8 or 9 deep with those type of players .
We haven’t had leadership going on 4 years , after awhile when do we quit blaming players and start blaming systems ?

Tonight's performance was pathetic...but you are getting way carried away! NO WAY you make a change and possibly break up the recruiting class the coaches just busted their a$$ to sign!! NO ONE expected a ton from this team this year...so just be happy for how they have done so far!

K-state played a Hell of a lot better than they have played ALL year!! It was rediculous to see all these stinking shots falling all the sudden! It's like we're cursed against that ugly pos of a team. They played like they were playing in the tournament last year...unfortunately for us!!

We just gotta steal one on the road now!

I'm glad your computer is working again, it was obviously broken during the 13-3 start since we hadn't heard anything from you for two months! :facepalm

Nope.

Going into the year I gave us a 10% chance to make the tourney with the current roster. They have far exceeded everyone’s expectations so far. The ceiling for this team is the ncaa tourney, nothing more. We are well on pace to reach that goal. The class we have coming in is talented enough to get ou back in the sweet 16 or better for multiple years.

I'm not going to freak out over one terrible game. We also had a very bad game against Wisconsin and responded well....so I'm hoping the experience of a senior-laden team will do that once again. KSU played to their potential tonight and we played about as poorly from an effort standpoint as we've played all year.

But having said that, the concern is really starting to grow with the way this team CAN'T score. I don't think we even have one player on this team that I would describe as a "decent shooter". We have several guys who are average, but have shot poorly as a whole over the last few weeks. Doo is our only inside scoring option (Muni is awful right now) unless we drive to the basket or get something in transition. We aren't even shooting a halfway decent % from 3 at home....and home is where you are supposed to shoot well. Thus, our formula for winning seems to have become grind it out and hope to get a few stops at the end of the game, because we sure as hell aren't going run anyone out of the gym.

If the ceiling for an OU team is making the tourney ,coming off years of not making the NCAA( two years ago )and only getting in because of TV ratings for young last year is your definition of what OU basketball has become .......then you have proven my point .

This class of srs was suppose to be the future too and look what have they become .

Lastly we haven’t exceeded anyone’s expectations yet , conference play has just started .
Since big 12 has started we haven’t proved anything other than we can squeak by in some ugly home games against mid to lower conference foes . Tonight we got blown out at home .

We could easily finish right where we were ranked preseason

Good post, agree on all points. Unfortunately I think James is falling into his pattern of the past two seasons. He tends to shoot very well early in the season but then drops off significantly. Without him making shots, we just don't have a consistent shooter to keep defenses honest. Calixte has made some shots lately but he has spent some time on the bench due to turnovers. As some have pointed out, RO is good at getting to the rim but can't make free throws. Offense just doesn't come easy for this team and that means the effort and fundamental play have to be on point.

That quote above is the 2018-19 Sooners in a nutshell. When we struggle scoring as we have a few times recently, it makes this team look worse than they really area.

We also caught KSU at a bad time as they are starting to get their act together. We all saw tonight why they were highly thought of during the preseason. I wish we would've played them 2 weeks ago.

KSU shot well but other than Brown getting hot they were wide open. Communication looked really bad off screens as the pick & pop was constantly open & getting mixed up which caused for bad close outs.

Also OU’s bigs got whooped on the boards & didn’t play well at all, McNeace looks bad. This team will bounce back though.

I would like this team to run in transition more.

Prolly mentioned but I’m not going through 10 pages of negative posts.

Am I the only one who think Ja$ should just sit and rest?! It’s gonna be tough without him but man he is a liability out there in his current form. Let him rest, even if it’s 2-4 weeks. I know we will take a hit but this isn’t working.

I'd agree if the ankle was still injured, but it isn't. They all have said that he is 100% physically healthy. It now appears to be a mental thing -- even though the pain is gone, he just doesn't trust it. Sitting/resting won't do anything to help that. He either needs to start playing better, or his playing time needs to be drastically cut. The problem is, Texas is the one team in the league where we need his size the most, so who knows what to expect Saturday.

There’s no way he’s 100% physically. No one will convince me of that. But, he def needs his minutes reduced for sure.

That situation has been entirely mismanaged

If a kid can’t prove to you in practice that he can run/jump close to his previous level, he should not be on the floor

Remove the decision from the kid
