That situation has been entirely mismanaged
If a kid can’t prove to you in practice that he can run/jump close to his previous level, he should not be on the floor
Remove the decision from the kid
Lon, Muni, and every reporter who covers the team has said that for the past two weeks, Muni has looked fully healthy in practice -- no restrictions, running jumping normally, etc. One thing about Lon -- if he makes a definitive statement, he isn't lying.
It isn't uncommon for an athlete to be fully healed physically but still have a mental hurdle. Usually that happens with more serious injuries like an ACL, but it appears Muni just can't get the ankle out of his head. I definitely don't think the staff or doctors have messed anything up. If Muni continues to play the way he has since coming back, however, it is definitely the staff's job to drastically cut his minutes.
