Well if she had "several" rebounds let's make her all big 12 right now.
syb,
You need to go back and read how you have described and pumped up Maddie. You talk about her leading OU to Final Fours. And she's not even led OU in scoring, once.
Sweetest OU Girl
And the Buddy example? You read that to mean Maddie should be competing directly with Buddy Hield?
Maddie needs to excel in the women's game like you know Drob or Whitney pre-injury.
Atlanta. I would think you would have better judgement. Maddie was a reserve last year, overcoming a lot of insecurity about injuries. Yet, she was told to take over a game, and she did.
You can take over a game in a lot of ways. You can score. That's nice. But, great scorers often lose games as well. The reason that some of us really like Maddie is that she can take over a game in many ways. She can turn things.
She stopped the WV, Texas, and TCU press by simply being able to bring the ball up court. If you remember, Gabbi struggled at first. Maddie didn't. The press doesn't bother her. I don't think she ever lost it in the backcourt to a press.
She can take over a game by how she guards someone. She stopped Donohoe for zero points, blocking at least two of her shots, forcing her to back off shots or try to shoot over her long arms.
She took over a TCU game by simply putting pressure on their guards. She blocked shots, and got steals that disrupted the TCU flow. I don't think she ever got the fast break layup off of those. But, she created them.
When WV came back in the tournament, she was the one that put on two moves that reopened the lead when it got to under ten.
Did you notice that she was the third leading shot blocker on the team last year---as a reserve? She got almost as many as Kay Kay.
There are many ways to take over a game. She has taken over the flow of several. You just seem to notice scoring.
