I enjoy this site more than most of the other sites I visit regularly because I can usually find a good discussion and threads here.

Information is pretty good.

I think this site does a very good job keeping up with OUWBB.

I would like to get some opinions on the coverage of OU women's sports as a whole, however.

I think there is a real dirth of coverage. Yes, we hear and read alot about Patty and the softball women. We hear and read a lot about Sherri and the team.

But it's never really a coordinated, generate-news effort. Yes, OU puts out stuff on its own -- but frankly it isn't that good.

We hear very little about the soccer team, golf and tennis team or the gymnastics team.

The heart of what I want to get to is this:

Do you folks think there is an online market for a site that covers all OU women's sports in depth? By that I mean producing it's own content regularly, interviews, game reviews and previews, recruiting info, player - coach features, strategy talk, etc.

And do you think OU would co-operate with such an effort? Do you think there is enough interest statewide or even a bit nationally?

Love to read your thoughts.

I would love more information about OU women's basketball as well as other sports. I just don't know enough about it to say whether there is enough market demand for such information to make it worthwhile.

You say "market" which implies making money. I don't think there is a market. I would love such a site and try to follow OU women's sports in al their forms. I also don't think OU would cooperate much. The university is very tight with anything directly associated with it. I wish that weren't the case.

Yeah, there's not even really a market for any OU sport other than football and maybe men's basketball.

I share your passion for OU Women's athletics. I would love to see more on the women's soccer, volleyball, rowing, gymnastics, and other sports. We are lucky to get what we get on basketball and softball. The problem is, is that the sports world is run by the males, and women's sports are treated as second class citizens, so to speak. As long as that is the status quo, nothing will change. Just glad we have this board to share ideas and stay up with our girls. In other words, what Syb said "No".

I am glad we have quality coaches in Basketball, Softball, Gymnastics, Volleyball, etc...... that keep our girls competing at the highest level in their respective sports.

+1!

Someone who knows how to do such things could put together a "boomer bytes" type site with just Women's sports for all releases by OU or any newspaper or sports publication. Certainly not a commercial endeavor. You would get no help from OU and no information from the WBB coach, unless she wanted it out. If there was enough interest the Jokelahoman or Tulsa paper would already be doing more.

No question the lack of interest is the driving force. It is what it is. Minimal demand results in minimal coverage.
