What is your prediction concerning the game tomorrow between the OU women and the West Virginia women?

I think OU will win by 6 points. What do you expect?

I believe we will lose, unfortunately. I hope we pull off the 'upset,' but we haven't had a good record against ranked opponents this season (we've only won 1 game against a ranked team at the time we played them anyway this season). Fingers crossed I'm wrong because if we lose this game I think, barring an upset of UT or Baylor later on, this is a make it or break it game for our tournament hopes.

WV tough man defense always causes serious problems for us. I think we struggle bringing the ball up court and getting open shots.

Vivi will likely have to carry us. Maddie is going to have to take the shot and drive the basket.

Pellington’s speed and quickness should give them problems.

I think the lane may be open and underneath the basket will be, but shooting from the outside is going to be hard. I don’t anticipate a lot of open looks, which means Gabbi and Maddie could struggle.

They are ranked only because they were 12-0 in non-conference, entirely due to the fact that they played such weak opposition that they really had no challenge. They lost at home to both Kansas State and TCU. We swept K State and beat TCU in Norman.

Keys: WV didn't shoot well from three against either team. Both shot more free throws than WV. TCU dominated the boards (Montgomery graduated). WV is a very mediocre team that we should beat in Norman.

We tend to get to the line a lot at home against WV. If we can hit the free throws like Weds, I think we win by 8 or 9, if we struggle it could be a barn burner.

Ana has showed up today so far. I’m not sure what everyone else is doing.

I'm glad Ana is hitting from three. Now, if she would just relax at the free throw line, one of six?

Vivi and Maddie are playing outstanding defense. Vivi is credited with four blocks and a steal. Maddie is credited with two steals and a block. It seems we are doing well on the boards, but WV leads 19-16. WV with 12 turnovers. OU with ten. Our trap worked for four straight turnovers and four points. Turned it over twice after steals. Maddie has actually resulted in about four steals, some tipped passes. She just flat caught two. I don't know why they have her with one steal.

Ana, Vivi, Gabbi, and Maddie played well. Shaina got two quick fouls and two quick turnovers and sat for about 17 minutes.

Tough game.

Typical of Sherri, you are playing great and you change up at half time and try to force the ball inside and we give away our lead.

If it isn’t broke don’t fix it.

Leave Penzo in! She’s having a good game and Pellington is accomplishing nothing.

Whole team is playing great defense.

See...don’t fix what isn’t broken.

Kudos to the TV people today. They have shown us replays right after a play happens. I get so frustrated with most games because they show replays from 2 plays back when you want to see a replay of what just happened.

Best overall game of the year, particularly on the defensive end.
Offensively, we were clicking too. Everyone had their moments.

Just really good overall game. I know WVU isn’t a really good team, but we made them look really bad.

So, WV was in the top 25 in both polls. Yeah. That's why K State beat them in Morgantown. If we play 500 ball from now on, we will make the NCAA. Of course, we do go to Waco (Monday) and Austin.

I think Vivi had five blocks on one possession. But, they credited her with five for the game. We shot 51% to WV's 32%. We shot more free throws. They made more. Ana was 3 of 9 from the line. Ouch. Really good day for Ana, other than shooting free throws.

Penzo gave valuable minutes and actually made three layups with WV concentrating on Vivi who had stepped away from the basket leaving it open for Penzo. Good all-around game.

Texas destroyed TCU, leading 27-4 after the first quarter. Finished with about a 29-point win in Austin. Payback. Baylor romped over Tech. Iowa State/Kansas State and Kansas/Oklahoma State tonight.

With the exception of the two road games against Baylor and Texas, all of OU's games are against the lower five in the conference. We get West Virginia and Kansas on the road and Tech and Iowa State at home. We need three wins to finish 10-8.

Was at the game and
1) My game prediction was so far off...no relation to what we were able to do.
2) Every player that played had something good to contribute.
3) Defense was outstanding, active hands without slapping, movement to cut off players rather than reaching, lots of blocking out on rebounds, and good help defense. Gotta give the ladies an A for both effort and results.
4) Ana and well run plays made for a very effective offense.
5) Refs no better than other games, but we didn't reach to allow them opportunities for errant calls, and not close at the end, so no blame for calls.
6) Finally a little consistent effort and awareness for more than one game at a time.
Congratulations to a great effort, team improvement, and an important win.

Really impressed with Ana this afternoon. She played at difference making level today. Her ceiling is very high.

I agree. She’s becoming more comfortable and consistent and going to become much better with the talent coming in the next few years.

I hadn’t thought much about it previously but the team went on its run when Shaina went out. The ball movement was as good as it has been all season (part of that has to do with playing against man defense). I think she is more of an iso player and with her out the ball was able to love and find open shooters. Obviously Ana’s hustle and competitiveness were on another level which helps too. But it was interesting to think about how much better the offense looked once SP was out.

K-State was not very good and you told us ahead of time WV wasn't all that good. So, what is there to get real excited about?

I'm going to assume you are an honest person and truly don't understand. But that - unfortunately - means it would be impossible to explain it in words you would be able to comprehend.

But then you were probably one of those who thought we would only win 1 or 2 games the rest of the year when we discussed that a few days ago.
