Our progam is in shambles

Hard to fill a place up when the product on the floor isn't great and the arena sucks.

its not exactly like the place filled up when the team was good
Maybe we didn't fill it up every game. But there was a lot of games even fairly non competitive games where we filled it up pretty good. Today we didn't really fill it up. KU fans did.

Every year Sampson was the coach with the exception of three games a year.
We didn't have half empty games every game. Maybe some early in the year. Maybe once in a while against a Baylor or A&M or other teams that were terrible. But not every game. We usually filled up every time Kansas, Missouri, Texas, and OSU showed up. Now matter how good those teams were. And Iowa State we filled up when they were good for a few years. And then there were other games we filled up during conference play with at least 8-10k. Now we only filled up this game because we had Kansas fans. And there was 7-8k max.

We were never this empty and half of them filled with the other teams fans for any game under Kelvin Sampson.

I remember getting beat by Cincinnati one game and having a full arena even though that game was not real competitive. However as I said I can't blame the fans for this. The product is so bad that there's little reason to support it.

There are some people on here correct. We have never always had a full arena. We have a history though of pretty good support and a rocking arena against out rivals and/or highly ranked teams. Today not even close.

It's a disgrace. Capel and his staff are a joke. We have not recruited well. The ticket policy, student section etc is also bad.

Major changes need to happen.

I agree with you 110 percent, but Capel's going to be back next year. It just is what it is. Hope I'm wrong though.

What about the ticket policy would you like to see changed?

Not having it tied in with football at all would be an awesome start. Seeing the front few rows empty at every game is always good for an LOL.

Were any of you brilliant critics at LNC today? ...
If a fan lives within 50 miles of Norman, he or she should not criticize the crowd unless they were at the game. If you can't make an effort to solve the problem don't dwell on it.

Of course I was there today. I have been there to almost every home game for 35 years and counting. Have you???

I have been to the conference tournaments, the NCAA sub-regionals, the NCAA Regionals, and the Final Fours. And I have done this for decades.

My round trip to the LNC is about 50 miles and I have made it countless times. Countless times I have looked forward to watching the Sooners at home where they could beat anyone. No one even thought of games as “winnable” as each and every game was winnable, especially at the LNC. Well enter Mr. Capel, and those days are gone.

So, with your permission, I will continue.

One does not have to be “brilliant” to clearly see that we have a very average coach at the University of Oklahoma. Capel will likely be back next year (vomit), and we might see “drastic improvement” as the team might win half their conference games. So, once again, after maybe winning more conference games than this year, but no more than half the conference games, the enlightened posters out there (and the brilliant Joe C.) that cannot see the obvious, will once again say .. give him another year .. he won more than last year.

Then we will have him for another year after that. Another very average, very mediocre year. And once again, Capel might win half of his conference games, if we are lucky.

And so on. And so on.

We are screwed. More dud seasons to come.

A once proud top-20 national basketball program is being destroyed before our very eyes. It is clear. It is obvious. You do not have to be brilliant to see it.

And by the way, through most of five (5) full seasons, Capel is 36-42 (.462) in Big-12 conference regular season games. By any reckoning, that is not even average.

This is a fact ... 36-42. Plus, throw in all these long losing streaks.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I believe THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA should have a good coach; someone better than average or mediocre.

Move the student section down. If we are not going to fill the top of the staidum, cover the entire top section with a tarp and pack everyone down close. Change the way tickets are tied to football and get fans in there that want to be there.

Jeff Capel killed Oklahoma Basketball. He is a total joke and I can't wait until his no longer our head coach. I wish him nothing but the worst in his future endeavors.

Can't wait until the day Jeff Capel is fired. Three out of five losing seasons, congrats coach.

We used to have a shot at every home game. Especially against our rivals and top ranked teams. Now we have to resort to moral victories in an arena that is filled by the other teams fans.

How can anyone defend Capel?

I have heard the excuse that OU is young as being a reason Capel should be given another year but I don't buy that excuse.

This is a dark day in the programs history. Not really because of the teams play but because it's fan support is so bad. If we still had a strong fan support I think Capel would have a chance. But the lack of fan support has to hurt his recruiting as much anything. If there were any recruits visiting today they saw almost a KU home game.
