My fault two out of three losing seasons.
This is a dark day in the programs history. Not really because of the teams play but because it's fan support is so bad. If we still had a strong fan support I think Capel would have a chance. But the lack of fan support has to hurt his recruiting as much anything. If there were any recruits visiting today they saw almost a KU home game.
LOL, I'm no Capel defender by any means but it is amazing the stuff some come up with to further trash him. Perry had this visit scheduled for at least a month if not more. Even though OU has very little chance Perry still has a legit interest in OU, he has been going to games since 2008 as a Sooner recruit. Perry didn't just take this visit to help a buddy get a scholarship offer.Perry Ellis, his coach and teammate were there to see a Kansas home game. Those of you excited Capel got Perry Ellis there, he was in LNC to help his friend get an offer.
We used to have a shot at every home game. Especially against our rivals and top ranked teams. Now we have to resort to moral victories in an arena that is filled by the other teams fans.
How can anyone defend Capel?
Some posters defend Capel because they *****ed and moaned about Sampson and wanted a change. Now that they see the end result they are too stubborn or stupid to admit they were wrong.
A lot of them post on this board.

Sp if you wanted Sampson gone you cannot want Capel gone? I don't follow that? Capel has done jack squat compared to Sampson. Just because some people got a little bored with his offense and and stale on him after 10+ seasons doesn't mean they don't have the right to think Capel is worthless.
If Joe C refuses to address the problem at the end of the season, the Sooner fans should send Joe a clear message next season by staying home and watching the games on tv.One does not have to be “brilliant” to clearly see that we have a very average coach at the University of Oklahoma. Capel will likely be back next year (vomit), and we might see “drastic improvement” as the team might win half their conference games. So, once again, after maybe winning more conference games than this year, but no more than half the conference games, the enlightened posters out there (and the brilliant Joe C.) that cannot see the obvious, will once again say .. give him another year .. he won more than last year.
Then we will have him for another year after that. Another very average, very mediocre year. And once again, Capel might win half of his conference games, if we are lucky.
And so on. And so on.
We are screwed. More dud seasons to come.
A once proud top-20 national basketball program is being destroyed before our very eyes. It is clear. It is obvious. You do not have to be brilliant to see it.
And by the way, through most of five (5) full seasons, Capel is 36-42 (.462) in Big-12 conference regular season games. By any reckoning, that is not even average.
This is a fact ... 36-42. Plus, throw in all these long losing streaks.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I believe THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA should have a good coach; someone better than average or mediocre.

I don't get it either.
Heck, just read my sig line. That poster commented to me, which I posted in my sig, that he would rather have an elite 8 and multiple losing seasons than to have consecutive NCAA appearances with a first or 2nd round loss.
Ignorance knows no bounds with some capel supporters.

Old habits are hard to break, but this may be all we can do.
I will always remember "The Year of the Fan" ... and not in a good way.

I wouldn't say our program is in shambles...yet. One more year like this and I will agree though.
Are three years with first round NCAA tourney losses better than 2 losing seasons and 1 elite 8?
I am not defending Capel but IMO it isn't slam dunk like you make it out to be.
I agree. Joe could stand at the door and pass out free tickets. It worked for the Texas game.seriously...move the games to the fieldhouse. it will be awesome
Do you really have to ask that question? Before Capel took over, we had the longest postseason appearance streak in D1 basketball.
Yes, 3 years with 1st round losses, even though that wasn't part of the previous post (1st and 2nd round losses), is much better than an elite 8 and 2 losing seasons. The tourney appearances signify you had a successful season, a losing season is not successful.
The post in my sig was generated after I asked brgch if he would or would not like to trade with aTm, who has 7 consecutive NCAA appearances and 7 consecutive 1st round wins. Are you telling me you wouldn't trade psoitions with aTm, too? That is basically what happened anyways...we traded with them. They have now become the Oklahoma type program and we are now an old aTm type program.
