Paging Joe C, please pick up the white courtesy phone

Personally, I feel it is time to move in a different direction, but I also like Capel as a person enough that I'm not going to throw a fit if Joe C and company decide to give me one more year to see if Capel can get this turned around. With that said, I think, with the situation we're in, that a statement either way would be appropriate. For recruiting if nothing else.

I agree about dragging this out. Last year other teams were able to spout negative statements about our situation for weeks.I'm not saying all of those recruits were program changing guys, but it definitely set us back with a few of them and hurt us this year. Personally I would like to see Capel get one more year, but if Castiglione wants to go another direction then he needs to go make an announcement pretty quick. If he doesn't make a change and doesn't make a statement endorsing Capel soon then I think Joe C. definitely deserves some criticism. Again, the guys we are in on aren't program changing guys but they can of help to our roster for next season.

You don't run a coaching change decision on the basis of one recruiting year, particularly one as weak as this one.

Unless he says he is our coach for the future it will not help recruiting anyway. Who is going to come if they know he only has one year? Same problem as Knight at TT.

Several media people are changing their tune and Emig has gone into seclusion. Carey Murdock and Al Eschbach said new info has changed their mind.

Toilet Paper?

I'll at least give Murdock the benefit of the doubt of trying to do his job.

Attention Joe C, Attention Joe C: it is now Sunday, 3 days after our season ended. We are waiting patiently for your decision.

Leave Joe alone. It takes time to make a gut-wrenching decision and to cha.

You really think he is going to make a major announcement on a Sunday?

No way.

He'll either announce something Monday-Wednesday of this week, or it'll go on another week (after the opening of the Dance).

If it goes another week that is completely unacceptable. That is unless he has something worked out with Gillispie and Clyde is doing some "under the radar" recruiting right now. If it goes another week and then he just announces Capel is coming back, well, that is ridiculous.

Maybe, maybe not.

It's not ideal, but if he wants to gauge interest from guys that he can't talk to yet, he doesn't really have another option. Hate to say it, but if he had something worked out with BCG, he wouldn't be talking to TT, most likely.

The only downside of this dragging out a bit is recruiting. And since it doesn't look good with Cezar/Jurick (my opinion), and there aren't many other options available, I don't see this as a big deal.

We all want it done quickly, but more importantly, I want it done right. I'd rather keep Capel on board one more year and look to boot him then, then to boot him now, not get any of our top choices, and have to hire a lesser coach that what we all want.

cha cha cha

:) The Sooner fans can look forward to another disappointing season. As long as Joe's arse is on the line, I don't have a problem with him bringing Jeff back for another season.

lol @ Joe's job being on the line. Take a look around you at the success being enjoyed by the vast majority of sports that OU participates in. Believe it or not Joe isn't going to be fired based solely on the performance of the men's basketball team.

Totally off-topic, I know, but Seniorsooner....did you watch the Lee/McEwan fight on the Martinez undercard on HBO? Holy crap!

Yes I did. Really entertaining fight. There was one round toward the end there, may have been round 8, that was insane. Also it may not have been as fan friendly of a fight but Sergio Martinez is an absolute animal. It'll never happen because the weight difference is too wide but he and Pacquiao in the same ring would be incredible.
