The problem where a lot of the Sampson haters came from is the NCAA sanctions and leaving our program the way he did.

They need to realize those sanctions amounted to nothing.

Something like Capel couldn't do off campus recruiting for 3-6 months, and we lost one or two scholarships that we weren't even going to use.

Count me as someone against the idea of bringing in Pastner. My reasons being that I think that while he is a great recruiter, his coaching is still suspect (4th in CUSA with high level recruits) and I have serious doubts that he would be in it for the long haul.

He would most likely always be looking for the better job if/when he sustained some success. Say he does come in and brings in great recruits, gets some quality wins and then comes up for a higher profile job. We will be right back in the situation of finding a way to keep a hold of recruits he is bringing in and run the risk of going through the same cycle again. Not to mention, Memphis at this point is a better situation from a talent and support standpoint.

The only reason OU wouldn't want Josh Pastner is that he would be gone in 5 years. The guy is a terrific recruiter and will end up at a big time job sooner than later.
