What an idiot.
Let's see if we can figure out some other people the media could contact to get more details about this story, if in fact they actually wanted to simulate a journalist and publish an accurate story....I know it will be tough to come up with any names. Let's see, all I can think of are the players named, Jeff Capel, any of the assistant coaches, Joe C., and Mike Houck.
On second thought, what could those guys possible offer in an interview that would be informative. It was probably just a silly idea.
Oh, I wasn't commenting on what you wrote, just something I thought of when I read the article. It seems that sometimes the media goes out of their way not to actually do some leg work and get an original story.I was referring to the advisor, but I see your point.

SoonerNorm said:It seems that sometimes the media goes out of their way not to actually do some leg work and get an original story.
There is a larger story to be told, and with enough legwork and resources it probably can be told. But the story is going to come from off-the-record sources, people close to the players and their families, people who know Hausinger, nuggets of info from the internet, etc. Not the principal figures in the athletic department.
So, who's going to do the legwork?
Why are you asking me?

It seems it is Norm's point that the media isn't doing legwork on this story. Since you disagreed with him, I thought you might have some ideas on who in the media is going to do so.
Norm chided the media for not trying to get comments from the players involved and people employed by the University of Oklahoma athletic department. The idea that they are not doing that is patently absurd.
It's not fair to move the goalposts to say Norm was criticizing people for not doing a full-blown investigative report into what happened.
But, since you asked, my guess is there are only two media outlets in the state with the resources to do the type of story I would like to see done. Unless OUHoops wants to pay me to go to Florida and Texas to do some digging myself.
Well, you may be right that he suggested they should interview university staff for more information, but in the second quote, it seems pretty clear that his primary complaint was that there is not enough legwork being done.
Of the two media outlets you have in mind, would Mr. Emig happen to work for one of them?
Yes, of course, and I suspect that people are at least trying to work on a larger story as we speak. If you asked me for a prediction, though, I'd bet that we never get the kind of real nailed-down detailed story that I would love to see. Instead we will probably get bits and pieces of new information about Hausinger, and eventually the university will make it's announcement and the principals will give their side of the story and everyone here and in the media will swallow it whole as the truth.
That's a reasonable criticism, to be sure, and had it been the one made, I would be fine with it, if not entirely on-board. Instead, we got these mocking, sarcastic paragraphs:
