Porter to.........Villanova???

Truly baffled by the people who seem to think there is a planet where we run it back with largely the same roster. First of all, what about Moser’s history at OU makes you think that could happen? Players don’t stick around to play for him. Second, why would you want that to happen? Imagine how bad this team would have been without Fears. Now also factor in not having Moore, who was clearly our second best guy for half the season before he significantly regressed. It’s maybe a 12-win team without those two, and that’s being generous.

In all likelihood, if Moser can’t get his wish to find a new job, he will come back and we may have three or four guys from this roster back. Then we’ll add an uninspiring portal group, and Rogers might get a few minutes of PT while the other freshman redshirts (and Blair never sets foot on campus). Fun times.

Here is a fun look at Porter Moser's career at OU:

1/3 of his career has been against Top-25 opponents, that is a rough shake of things for sure.
28 games under .500 against top 50 teams. That’s unacceptable. I don’t expect us to be a top 10 program, but from, say, 15-50, we should be able to go .500. That’s our peer group, or was until Moser showed up.

Lies. Myth. Rumor.

OU obviously has been scouting, as there are players in the Portal that have already heard from OU.

How many basketball teams have a true GM in place? Does Drake? Does New Mexico?

If a basketball coach can't coach his team and keep up with 13 scholarships, he isn't a very good coach. Wasting money on a GM in basketball is not a good use of resources. It will probably happen, but it's not going to have some huge impact. Heck, Georgia football doesn't even think it's necessary for their football program, and they are at the top of the football world.

But sure, OU is SO FAR behind because we don't have a GM. Good grief.
Bob P has mentioned that a GM hire is in the works… at least that would be a start if nothing else

I agree, especially in context of 26-50. In current environment, OU’s ceiling seems to be somewhere between 30-40 KP.

Would hopefully be close to .500 against those peer programs, definitely no ~.375.

The record against top 25 is bad but more understandable given the exposure to top 5 and top 10 teams in the Big 12 & SEC. But yeah, got to get better against the 26-50 peer group which doesn’t seem likely.

Here is Porter Moser v. Rodney Terry:

Terry light years ahead of him against top 50 teams. Even allowing for the fact that Terry has had more talent, that’s a big difference, especially when you consider that Terry had to jump in midseason in difficult circumstances his first year.

Idk how you make these so well.

Can you do one more request? Pm's entire career: record, win %, games played, chart?

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment!

It may be tomorrow when I get to it, but absolutely. Gathering today, serving that brisket, but I'll make it happen.

Numbers will be very skewed bc of much lower levels of competition. I may break it up into teams and career total. But heavily influenced by the top games at OU

If Porter leaves how early do you guys think it’ll happen? Do we hear some reliable news next week? Week after? I would guess he would want to secure another job asap for portal purposes.

The Terry comparison is interesting, inherited a better roster and better situation overall (I have a hard time anyone arguing that UT and OU are anywhere committed at the same level to winning seriously) but has performed much better against that 26-50 peer group and is still fired/on hot seat. But yes, give me a top 10-15 roster and a difficult situation from my predecessor getting arrested over what Moser inherited in 2021.

Definitely a roster bump for Terry there but still got to find a way if one is Moser to not **** the bed so consistently against 26-50.

I primarily wanted to see that they both played similar schedules.
